Back to Land

Wow its been a moment or two! Since taking time off for post-op recovery in April then finishing PT just in time to scadaddle to Alaska it feels like ages since being back in the studio. I'm sure lots has changed and happened for everyone, really just looking forward to getting back into massage season and seeing all your friendly faces again.

Basic steps for a good newsletter

Alaska 2025
First off just wanted to let everyone who's curious know that my back seems to have healed up pretty well and my crew was diligent in not letting me lift anything too heavy. We had another wonderful and busy season, our little boat hauled 464,000 lbs of sockeye salmon this year so we were very happy with that! It was a great year for all the fishermen up there and as good fortune prevailed all stayed safe and healthy in our realm! This was year #6 up there for me, so it's starting to feel like this thing I do. Big thanks again to my mom for watching all the fur babies, couldn't do it without ya!

Offerings
As mentioned before I do feel like my back has healed tremendously from the herniation in Jan, but the nerve damage to my lower leg and foot has yet to regrow. With still having drop foot and lower leg numbness, at this point I will not be offering ashiatsu, so traditional hands on style only until I regain that lower extremity control. I do plan to start rotating in the assisted stretches though, just going to have to ease back into it and see what my body will be capable of. I will also, for the sake of not over taxing my body, only be open weds-sat and adhering to a pretty tight limit of 3 sessions a day so I apologize if availability isn't as numerous. If you would like to set up recurring appointments to ensure your preferred time and day please reach out quickly so we can get that set up.

2025-26 Pricing
In attempt to maintain consistency and transparency I will be offering all in pricing this year. The price you see listed for services will be inclusive of add-ins and gratuity. Thank you all again for your continued support while getting back on my feet.

A little springtime update

Spring greetings to all my Cuerpo peeps. Sooooo... lets just hop right in here, I am now 1 week post-op from a Microdiscectomy for a herniated lumbar disc. The actual injury happened late Jan and I tried my best to heal with multiple non-surgical interventions. I commend my body for doing the awesome job of healing it did and even almost got back to a full regular work schedule, thank you to everyone who worked with me through that time! The thing that didn't heal and made me decide on surgery was and still is the persistent drop foot of my left lateral leg/foot. We're hoping with time and rest the nerve will be able to heal and regenerate now that the herniated cartilage has been removed and blood supply has been returned to the L5 nerve root. The surgery went well and hats off to the team at Neurological and Spine Surgery and the Bryan West surgery center, I was very well taken care of there. And of course to my home team who've been bolstering me with copious amounts of pillows and chocolate pudding, iykyk!

With all that being said I just wanted you all to know the big reason behind there being no availabilities on the calendar. I'm really hoping that I'll be able to get back into the studio for some version of wellness appts in May. Whether that might look like facials, waxing, yoga, sound healing, energy work, sauna sessions, sky's the limit right now but I do not anticipate being able to do massage until this fall. I am going to be exploring new options during this season of new beginnings and hoping to share some of that with you all before I 'hopefully' will be returning to Alaska in mid June this year. Stay tuned for more details.

Keeping my fingers crossed to get back my previous strength and as your now fellow low back patient I'd like to encourage everyone not to wait to listen to your body. If something hurts and its ongoing don't keep pushing through pain. Rest and listen to the cues, maybe dial it back and/or seek the right medical attention/imaging you need before the situation demands it. You've got this, I've got this, let's all have each other's backs! Happy Easter and spring season, hope to be seeing you soon.

Happy Holidays and wishes for a great new year!

As 2024 is wrapping up I would just like to express my gratitude for the gift that each of you brings to my practice. No two sessions are ever the same and this is just one reason for me this pactice keeps getting better as the years go on.

Peering into the crystal ball of 2025

Sensory Lounge Soft Opening
All of the complimentary therapies that go hand in hand with massage are something that I get totally jazzed and enthused about not only for myself but in wanting to share with my community. The new 'other' side of my studio now has an infared sauna, soaking tub (either hot or cold) and a professional grade acoustic vibration table with red light therapy. At this point I haven't really had the time in my booking calendar to offer this as an add on option but if any of these features are something that also sparks your interest let me know you'd like to come in to your next appt 10-15 mins early for a complimentary try out of one or two of the services and I'll have it ready for you. They are a lot of fun and can be a great addition to the effects of bodywork.

Forward Directions of My Practice
This last month I've been giving a lot of thought as to what makes my massage unique, and what I keep coming back to is the dynamic nature and movement of body work. The body is meant to be in motion and to me that is important to be expressed during the massage. Working with the body in a single horizontal plane is only one approach. I like to mobilize, stretch and be aware of moving every joint in the body through all three planes of existence during a session. I believe this helps facilitate and compliment the effects that massage has on the muscles and connective tissues of the body. To this effect I will be trying out new movements, stretches and utilizing sarga silks to help deepen these efforts. I hope you'll be open to a bit of play and experimentation this coming year as I move my practice forward in this direction.

Small price increase
I know inflation has not been easy for everyone these last few years and I deeply appreciate that so many of you choose to continue to spend your time and resources with me, but as overhead for my practice is continuing to rise I'll be increasing my rates just a litte as follows;
60m $80
75m $100
90m $120
facial add ons $45

To that note all appts booked before Jan 1 will maintain 2024 prices.
