Come on out for Community Fishing Night at Bowling Lake!
Hosted by Nebraska Game and Parks, community fishing events are held at venues across the state each spring and summer.
Look for the Family Fishing Trailer, where loaner rods and reels, bait and fishing instruction are available free to participants. Fishing Instructors are also available to provide helpful tips and answer questions. This is the perfect opportunity for people of all ages who have never been fishing or haven’t fished for years to learn.
All participants ages 16 and older need a fishing license. A valid state park entry permit is also required for events at state park areas. Visit gooutdoorsne.com for permits.

Good News!! The Arnold Heights Pool is not closing after this summer. The note below was shared by Parks & Rec administrators:

"Dear Air Park Neighborhood Association,

Thank you for meeting with us on May 6 to discuss the future of Arnold Heights Pool. At that time, we shared that we were considering closing the pool after the 2025 season due to its aging infrastructure, rising maintenance costs, and declining attendance.

Since then, we conducted additional community engagement. Based on that input, we have decided to keep Arnold Heights Pool open in 2025 and beyond, as long as it remains safe and feasible to operate.

We are now shifting our focus to developing a citywide strategy for Aquatics over the next few years. This citywide planning effort will assess all of Lincoln’s aquatic amenities to support smart, equitable investments and ensure long-term sustainability. A key part of the plan will be community engagement, and we look forward to continued conversation with your association as this works proceeds.

With the pool remaining open, we are no longer moving forward with plans for a sprayground at Huskerville Park at this time.

Given the age of the Arnold Heights Pool, mechanical issues may still arise during the season. If they do, our team will respond quickly to make repairs and reopen the facility as soon as possible.

Thank you for your continued involvement and advocacy. We will keep you updated as the citywide strategy develops, and we welcome any questions or feedback."
