Tomorrow begins National Crime Victims Rights Week. Each year, our Zonta Club “plants” a pinwheel garden at our county courthouse in recognition of the victims of violent crime in our community. This year, we placed 102 pinwheels. That means over 100 people in our community alone were victims of some form of violent crime over the last year. This year’s national theme for the week is KINSHIP, which is a call to action to recognize that shared humanity should be at the center of supporting all survivors and victims of crime.

While the pinwheel garden is pretty to look at, may it serve as a reminder to all of us about our very own community. KINSHIP is where victim advocacy begins.

Representatives from across Zonta District 6 gathered today in Lincoln for our annual Spring Workshop to discuss how we can create more impact in our communities. In addition to the business meeting, members worked on a service project for Hope for Justice, donated food items for Lincoln’s local food pantries, and raised money for the Zonta Rose Foundation.
