Pelvic Pain & Painful S*x — Let’s Normalize the Conversation

If you’re experiencing pelvic pain or discomfort with intimacy, you are not alone, and you are not broken. While it may be common, it is not something you simply have to live with.

Pelvic pain can show up at any stage of life and for many different reasons. Sometimes it’s related to muscle tension, coordination, posture, stress, or past injury. Often, the body is trying to protect itself, but that protection can create ongoing discomfort.

The good news? Pelvic floor physical therapy offers safe, effective treatment to help reduce pain, restore function, and rebuild confidence.

You deserve to feel comfortable in your body. If this resonates with you, I’d be honored to help guide you toward relief. 💛

We're halfway through our Strength Training and Pelvic Floor course at The Training Compound. So far we've learned proper breathing, pelvic floor and core contraction, and what it looks like to breathe and brace through exercise. Up next, we discuss applying all of it to our heavier lifts.

If you're interested in future courses, let us know!

Belly breathing isn’t the same as diaphragmatic breathing. 🤔🤔

True diaphragmatic breathing requires the rib cage to move, not just the belly.

When the diaphragm contracts, it expands the rib cage 360° (front, sides, and back). If the ribs stay stiff and only the belly rises, the diaphragm can’t fully do its job.

Why does this matter?
- The diaphragm plays a major role in lumbar and pelvic stability. It works together with the pelvic floor, deep abdominals, and spinal muscles (aka the deep core system) to manage pressure and support the spine during movement.
- When breathing mechanics are limited, this system doesn’t function as efficiently. This can contribute to low back pain, pelvic symptoms, or instability with lifting, walking, and exercise.

Learning to breathe with rib cage expansion isn’t about forcing a pattern, it’s about restoring how the system is designed to work so the spine and pelvis are supported from the inside out.

Re-learning how to correctly breathe is simple but not easy. Give your body grace, and if you need help, reach out!

It was such a privilege to talk through breath work, move through a flow, and experience a sound bath last night with Drs. Jessica and Ashley. If you missed this wellness event, we plan to have another in January. Stay tuned!

9 months in ➡️ 9 months out

My labor and delivery did not go completely as planned. Little Noah decided to remain sunny side up throughout labor and delivery, making it a 31 hour long process 😵‍💫 But, thankfully, my recovery has been so smooth and I am feeling so strong in my postpartum body.

I attribute my recovery to 2 things:
1) My activity level during pregnancy. I was able to continue lifting and moving throughout my pregnancy, all the way up to his birth.
2) My education. Education is power and that power has lead to my ability to understand my body and what it needs, making my recovery as smooth and as quick as it has been.

Whether pregnant or postpartum, I would love to help you learn about your body and how to best care for it no matter where you are in your journey. You deserve to move freely and feel fulfilled.
