Meet Anita, one of our incredible phlebotomists who brings both skill and heart to every blood drive. Fluent in three languages, Anita often travels to assist where language support is needed—sometimes even volunteering on her days off.

She believes it’s important for every donor to hear, in their own language, just how powerful their act of giving is: “There is no factory that makes blood—only YOU can step up, donate, and be a hero.”

Thanks to team members like Anita, more people feel seen, supported, and proud of the life saving impact they make. ❤️

When 16-year-old Chara made her first blood donation, it wasn’t a spontaneous decision — it was personal.

Years ago, her older brother needed emergency surgery and received blood transfusions that helped save his life. That moment stuck with Chara.

“He might not be here today if people hadn’t donated,” she said. “I wanted to give someone else the chance my brother had.”

So as soon as she was eligible, she showed up at her local blood drive — proud, nervous, and ready to make a difference.

Chara hopes her story inspires more teens to donate if they can. “I think it’s important to do something selfless. One donation can go a long way.”

We couldn’t agree more. 💪

Nebraska Community Blood Bank has issued an urgent call for blood donors ahead of the Fourth of July holiday weekend.

Saving lives is a team effort! We're thrilled to partner with Nebraska Medicine and the Omaha Fire Department on a collaboration to have whole blood placed on four OFD medic units around the city.

This is Nebraska's first ground-based prehospital blood program, meaning paramedics can now administer lifesaving transfusions on the scene!
