Have you heard about Maine's Senior FarmShare Program?
Participating seniors receive a share (worth $50) of first-quality, fresh, local produce at no cost from a Maine Senior FarmShare Program authorized farm during the growing season.
You can sign up starting in April for that year's growing season. Some farms run out shares and you may be put on a waiting list for a particular location, so be sure to sign up at the start if the season if possible.
Signing up is easy to do....you just contact an authorized farm and let them know you want to apply....you can find the farm list as well as more information on the program by following the link below.

General Eligibility Guidelines:

• Be a Maine resident
• Be 60 years old or older (55 years old or older for Native Americans)
•Meet the Income Guidelines
Income eligibility guidelines are effective July 1, 2021 to June 30, 2022.
Maximum of $23,828/per year for a one-person household; or Maximum of $32,227/per year for a two-person household

The total number of seniors who qualify for Maine Senior FarmShare Program each year significantly outnumbers the number of FarmShares available in the program. Seniors will be put on a waiting list if the farm they have chosen has filled all their Senior FarmShares.
