Our family was in Bali at this time four years ago.
We were so excited to experience the ridge walk. We expected something fantastic at the end.
We rushed through the entire walk, dragging whining kids. Dancing and playing games to distract them from the hike itself so they could make it there.
And then we exited this gorgeous path into a home town that was obviously too far.
We walked back a bit to see if we missed the end. The view. Something.
And it hit us.
We were all so focused on the end goal, we had missed the entire thing. We had fun and got a nice walk in, but we could have been so much more present in our moment and intentional with our observations.
So much of healing work has been reminding me of this ridge walk. Let's not rush through.
Let's savor it all. The cranky bits, tough climbs and simple little moments. ❤️
