Here’s something that surprises most of my patients: your dentist can help with sleep apnea! 😮
I know, it doesn’t seem like it should be a dental thing. But the signs of sleep apnea show up in your mouth long before you ever get a sleep study. I see worn-down teeth, scalloped tongues, and narrow airways every single day.
Sleep apnea is more common than people think. If you snore loudly, wake up exhausted despite sleeping all night, or get morning headaches regularly, it’s worth looking into!
For patients who can’t tolerate a CPAP machine (and there are a lot of them), we can create a custom oral appliance. It fits like a retainer and gently repositions your lower jaw to keep your airway open while you sleep. It’s comfortable, easy to travel with, and can make a massive difference in your quality of life. 🦷
Untreated sleep apnea isn’t just about being tired. It’s linked to heart disease, high blood pressure, stroke, and diabetes. Taking it seriously is taking your health seriously! 💪
If any of this resonates with you, bring it up at your next appointment. I’d love to take a closer look and see if we can help.
