We’re a place where our community receives excellent care — and where team members can grow and build meaningful, purpose-driven careers. When leaders like Marcie show unwavering dedication, loyalty and commitment to their work, it fosters a culture of compassion and excellence.

Marcie’s journey from graduate nurse to nursing director is truly inspiring. She has spent her entire nursing career at UT Health East Texas, beginning in Labor & Delivery and steadily advancing through the clinical ladder to her current role as Director of Nursing for Women, Infant and Children’s Services.

Throughout her career, Marcie has served as a clinical educator, clinical manager, and program manager for maternal and neonatal state designations. She even returned to graduate school to earn her MSN in Nursing Leadership & Management. In 2023, she was honored as Leader of the Year — a well-deserved recognition of her impact and dedication.

Thank you, Marcie, for your continued commitment to your career and to the patients and team members you serve every day.

Atrial Fibrillation (AFib) is an irregular heartbeat where the chambers are not working in unison. If you have AFib, or think you are experiencing it, please see your doctor. Some people with atrial fibrillation do not experience symptoms, but are notified by their smart watch or pedometer that they are in AFib. Others experience symptoms like fast, fluttering or pounding heartbeat (palpitations), chest pain, dizziness, fatigue, lightheadedness, reduced ability to exercise, shortness of breath and weakness.

If you are experiencing any of these symptoms, call 903-596-DOCS. To learn more about AFib, check out the link we shared below.
