Gun violence in this country has been running rampant for quite some time and it touched our community yesterday. Many families were affected by the senseless violence against the church in Grand Blanc. Our hearts break (once again) for all of those families experiencing loss: Loss of a family member, loss of feeling of safety and protection, and the loss of a sense of order. Many families will have to try and explain to their children how things like this happen to people they know. There are no easy answers. Thoughts and prayers don't seem like enough especially when violence strikes a church.

Below are some resources for families that may help guide you when talking to your children. Hug your families tight in these times of need.

Where has the summer gone? We hope everyone had a great summer and are enjoying this beautiful September. With school starting, we are starting to see an uptick in respiratory viruses and that means RSV and FLU season are coming :(

We currently have flu vaccines for everyone 6 months and up and will be offering healthy kids at at their well visits. We will try an accommodate healthy siblings also in attendance (if you know you want siblings to also get it, please call us ahead of the appt so that we can add them to the schedule for efficiency sake). Families can now call and schedule free-standing flu shot appts as well.

RSV season starts October 1st meaning that we can start to offer the RSV vaccine to our infants that were born 4/1/25 until current day. They must be less than 8 months per FDA rules so we want to get those April and May babies in soon. We can offer it at well visits since it is compatible with other vaccines so if your little one has a well visit in October already, we have you covered. Studies are showing an 83-85% reduction in hospitalizations in babies that have gotten the vaccine. Even in our small practice, we have seen noticeable reductions in RSV admissions since we started offering it 2 years ago. Under 2 yr olds with significant medical issues (significant cardiac issues, on oxygen, etc) may be candidates as well - portal us if you think you child may qualify so that we can discuss)

Sorry for the long post!!!!

Short version:
Get your flu shot (everyone > 6months old) and RSV shot babies born after 4/1/25

🌟 Welcome Dr. Lynn Alling-Jones to Positively Pediatrics! 🌟

We are thrilled to welcome Dr. Lynn Alling-Jones to the Positively Pediatrics family! With over 20 years of experience in pediatric care, Dr. Alling-Jones is a phenomenal physician who brings compassion, skill, and a youthful spirit that makes her a favorite with kids and parents alike. 👩‍⚕️💙

A proud Flint native and graduate of Flint Powers Catholic High School, Dr. Alling-Jones has come full circle—bringing her talents back to Genesee County after serving children across Michigan. She’s previously cared for families at Mott Children’s Health Center in Flint and most recently at the highly respected Mali and Mali Pediatrics in Troy. We are extra excited because this move means a joyful reunion with Dr. Purman and Amanda—yes, we’re getting the gang back together! 🎉

Outside of the clinic, Dr. Alling-Jones is married to her wonderful husband Brian and is the proud mom of two amazing teenagers, Caleb and Makenna. When she’s not caring for patients or her family, you can find her traveling, working in her flower gardens, walking, or biking—she brings that same vibrant energy to everything she does.

We are truly blessed to have Dr. Alling-Jones join our team and help us continue delivering the kind of personalized, high-quality care that our families deserve. She will be starting at our office Monday October 6th. We will begin scheduling appointments with Dr. Alling-Jones and cannot wait for our patients to meet her.

Please join us in giving her a warm Positively Pediatrics welcome! 💕🏥💕

🌟 Farewell and Best Wishes to Jessica Colberg! 🌟

It is with mixed emotions that we will soon be saying goodbye to our incredible nurse practitioner and colleague, Jessica Colberg, who is leaving Positively Pediatrics after 2.5 wonderful years. We are very sad for us and our patients, but we are thrilled for her growth and new beginnings.

Jessica has been an amazing asset to our team—bringing compassion, dedication, and a true passion for pediatric care every single day. Her contributions have made a lasting impact on our practice and the families we serve. We are so grateful for the time we’ve had with her.

Jessica is off to begin an exciting new chapter at the University of Michigan Hospital, where she’ll be working on the inpatient Gastroenterology/Nephrology floors. We know she’ll do amazing things and continue to touch lives wherever she goes. (At least it is U of M - Go Blue!)

Jessica will be with us at Pos Peds through Friday September 5th.

Please join us in wishing Jessica all the best on this next adventure. You will be truly missed, Jessica! 💙💛

PS: Stay tuned for a new welcome post for our new provider in the near future!

Good Morning Pos Peds Family!!
Some time this weekend our call phone decided it needed a vacation. It seems to be going straight to voicemail and yet we have no messages to hear. Here I thought everyone’s kiddos were healthy and no one needed to speak with me this weekend. 😋 I have been checking the portal, so please reach out there. I apologize if you have called and didn’t hear back! We will get things fixed Monday!!

Would you like to be a part of the premiere pediatric practice in Linden? Positively Pediatrics is losing 2 amazing Medical Assistants next month and we need to replace them with some equally amazing people. We are looking for individuals that are great with kids and families, friendly but professional and have some medical experience working in the medical field.

We are looking for 30-36 hours per week. We have mostly run the office with medical assistants but if there are any nurses that are looking to get out of the rat race of the hospitals, feel free to reach out and see if we can make something work.

If you are interested, please message us on FB and send a resume to info@positivelypediatrics.com

To our PosPeds families, please share this post and/or mention to your friends that may be wonderful additions to our staff.
