Sharon Kay (Lindsey) Wright, of Lindsay, Oklahoma, was born April 3, 1948, to Calvert Russell “Bud” Lindsey and Ruth Lee (Goza) Lindsey. She was born and raised at Cox City, Oklahoma. Sharon was the fourth daughter out of five girls. Sharon attended Cox City school through 8th Grade. Then she attended Lindsay High School graduating as Salutatorian in 1966. While attending Lindsay High School, Sharon not only excelled in her scholastics but also Basketball. Her Senior year, Sharon was named “All State Basketball Player”. The qualifications for this selection were based on performance, leadership and impact on team success. She would display these traits as she worked in the broomcorn fields, played ball, furthered her education and would continue all through her adult life.

After high school, Sharon attended East Central College, graduating with a B.S. in Math Education and minor in Athletics. She taught Math and coached Junior High Girls basketball for 10 years.

Sharon married Milton Wayne Wright September 16, 1981, in Oklahoma City. They had three children: Jennifer, Angela, and Jonathan. Milton died in 1984 from injuries received in an automobile accident. Sharon was left as a single mom to raise three young children, one being 5½ weeks old. Sharon met this challenge and finished strong.

Sharon lived in Moore, Oklahoma, at the time of Milton’s death. She continued working at the Oklahoma City General Motors Assembly Plant. In 1992, Sharon decided she needed to be closer to family and moved back home to Lindsay. Family was always very important to Sharon. They brought her the greatest joy of her life. In 1999, Sharon’s youngest sister died. Sharon moved her niece, Hannah in with her family.

In 2006, the Oklahoma City GM plant closed its doors. She and daughter Angela moved to Kansas City, Missouri, where Sharon worked at the GM Assembly Plant there until her retirement. During her time with GM, Sharon’s personality traits paid off. She worked hard, leading her colleagues, making team impacts through the many challenges that would be encountered in making technology changes in the new vehicles that came to the assembly line.

After Sharon’s retirement, she and Angela came back home to Lindsay. Together they became active members of the First Baptist Church. They enjoyed traveling to many places from Branson, Missouri, to Canada, with the FBC Senior Adults.

Sharon’s biggest life decision came when she was in the 5th grade. That’s when she made Jesus Christ Lord of her life. Her life displayed God’s love through her soft-spoken ways, her big heart, her way of giving without expecting anything in return and her willingness to meet any need. Many people have been touched by Sharon’s thoughtfulness.

God called Sharon home on May 6, 2026, at the age of 78. Sharon was a fighter. She fought the good fight through life’s trials and through the battle of ovarian cancer. Sharon’s basketball coach Charlie Heatly would tell her, “Finish strong, Sharon.” Sharon always did. Now she has finished strong in the 4th quarter of life.

Sharon is survived by her two daughters: Jennifer Taylor and husband Chris, and Angela Wright; her niece Hannah Medrano; her grandson, J.T. Adkins; sisters-in-law: Lue Wright, Bobbie McCaslin, Kathy McWhorter and husband Doyle; plus many nieces, nephews; great nieces, great nephews; great-great nieces, great-great nephews, and a host of relatives and friends.

Sharon was preceded in death by her husband Milton Wayne Wright; her son, Jonathan; her parents Bud and Ruth Lindsey; her sisters: Mary Isabelle Farley, Ferne Geffre, Saundra Lindsey, Virginia Wright; brothers-in-law: Floyd Wright, Lloyd Wright, and Philmore Wright; and very special Aunt Allene and Uncle Joe Lindsey.

Billy Joel Mitchell was born on the family farm near Blanchard, Oklahoma, on September 6, 1934, in the middle of the Great Depression to his parents, Joel Denning Mitchell and Amelia Mellie (Copeland) Mitchell. He was the middle of three children that included his sister, Louise, and brother, Ray Neal.

Bill attended school at Alex, Bradley, and graduated from Dibble High School in 1952. While in school, he met the love of his life, Wynella Faye Smith. They were married for 73 years before his passing on April 24, 2026.

To this union, Bill and Faye had three children: Joel Scott, Kim Michele, and Joel Skip.

Right after marrying, Bill and Faye left Oklahoma for California. The war was on and there were jobs working the shipyards. They both quickly found work, but after just a few weeks Bill decided that California was not for him, so they moved back to Oklahoma. He quickly got his old job back as a welder at Robinson Steel in Oklahoma City. Over the years, Bill worked as a field laborer in the cotton patches, a welder, and drove an Orange Crush truck before deciding to follow in his father’s footsteps and go to barber school. Bill owned and operated a barber shop in Lindsay for over 50 years. He and Faye also owned and operated the Bill Mitchell Farm Center in Lindsay for several years. He served two terms as mayor and several years on the Lindsay City Council. Bill was also the city manager of Lindsay for a few years after leaving the legislature. He was a lifelong farmer and rancher, was enthusiastic about c**n hunting, and owned many fine c**nhounds over the years. Bill also proudly served his country as a member of the Army Reserves.

In 1984, Bill was elected to the Oklahoma State House of Representatives. He would serve in that capacity for 20 years. During his time in the legislature, Bill would hurry home after they adjourned on Thursday and open the barbershop for the rest of the week. He understood that the legislature was not a permanent job, so he believed it was important to keep the barber shop open as much as he could. During those 20 years, Bill only spent three nights in Oklahoma City without driving home. Two were because of the weather and one was due to an all-night legislative session.

Bill was a long-time member of the Missionary Baptist Church in Lindsay. He served as a deacon and men’s Sunday School teacher. He loved his church family, and he strived to be a good example for his children and grandchildren.

Bill considered his family his greatest accomplishment. But he was also proud with the accomplishments he obtained for his district. At one point, an opportunity presented itself for Bill to run for Congress. After deliberating his decision for a few weeks, he decided to not run. Bill wanted to continue to work for his district, but most importantly he did not want to be away from home and family as much as would have been required.

Bill is survived by his wife of 73 years, Faye, and his children, Scott and wife Kandyce of Norman, and their children Sean McAtee, Liberty Griess, and Billy Joel Mitchell II, Kim and husband Rick of Oklahoma City, and their children Daniel Despain, Nathan Despain, Micah Despain, and Abigail Despain, and Skip and Wife Shelly of Lindsay, and their daughter Erin Kirkland. Bill is also survived by his 3 great-grandchildren, Atticus Griess, Violet Griess, and Vivienne Griess and two cousins, Roger Perrin of Maysville and Glen Copeland of Pauls Valley, as well as many nieces and nephews.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents, J.D. and Mellie Mitchell, his brother, Ray Neal, his sister, Louise, their spouses, his father-in-law and mother-in-law, W.S. and Mila Smith, his brother-in-law, Raymond Whitely, his sister-in-law, Raye Whitely, and his nephews, Bill Roberson and Keith Ramage.

The family would like to express their thanks to several people who made Bill’s final days comfortable and to some very special friends. To his doctors, Dr. Wescott and Dr. Nemri, and their staff: The care you provided is appreciated more than you will ever know. Words cannot properly express our gratitude for how you took care of our dad. Johnny Branch, Mike Somers, Gary Henson…you were loved, appreciated and respected by Bill. Thank you for your friendship with him over the years.

The family would also like to thank the staff at Lifeline Hospice for their care of Bill in his final days.

Bill will be laid to rest next to his parents and in-laws at the Dibble Cemetery in a private family service. The family will announce a public memorial service for Bill very soon. In lieu of flowers the family has asked that donations be made to the Lindsay Missionary Baptist Church.

Viewing for Bill will be held Sunday, April 26, 2026, 2:00 P.M. – 4:00 P.M. and Monday, April 27, 2026, 9:00 A.M. – 1:00 P.M. at the Wilbourn Family Funeral Home in Lindsay, Oklahoma.

01/12/2026

Jerry Floyd Smith was born on September 11, 1936, in a farmhouse just north of Lindsay to James Daniel & Ollie Ester (Duncan) Smith. Surrounded by his family, he passed from this life and hugged Jesus, his Lord and Savior, on January 10, 2026.

The first two years of his life, Jerry was only known as “baby boy” before he was named. On January 22, 1955, at the age of 17, he asked Darleen Ann Webb if she would like to go to Texas and get married. Darleen answered, “Sure, why not”. They had three children, Teresa, Steve, and Mark. For the first 16 years of marriage, Jerry and his family moved 16 times. Jerry never finished high school, but received his GED so he could attend East Central University (ECU) in 1962. He graduated from ECU in 1966 and started his careers.

Jerry took his first management position with Goodyear Tire Company while he was attending college, then became the El Reno store manager in 1967. He also worked for Goodyear in Sand Springs, Oklahoma. In 1970, Jerry moved his family to 329 Elmwood, Lindsay Oklahoma, and was employed by Seiberling Tire Company. In 1971, he partnered up with Fred Simmons with Simmons Roofing Company. Jerry eventually bought the roofing company, and it became Garvin County Roofing Company. He stayed in the roofing business until 1977, when he sold the roofing company to get into oilfield tank trucks. Jerry and Buddy Smith partnered up in 1977, as Buddy’s Tank Trucks until the early 1980s, when Jerry became the owner and changed the name to FEMCO, Incorporated. While Jerry ran the trucking company, he also became a House of Representatives legislator in 1981 until January 1985. After many years in the trucking business, in 2003, he went into semi-retirement, selling FEMCO to his son Steve.

In July 2016, Jerry lost the wife of his youth after 61 years of marriage.

On June 16, 2017, Jerry married the blessing of his senior life, Sue Dennis. Beginning then, they enjoyed their senior years with lots of adventures. Traveling about the western United States, Alaska, and even the Gulf of America with lots of wild tales. Jerry enjoyed talking with everyone, figuring out if he was kin to you, telling you who your grandparents or your great grandparents were, and what they did many years ago. Strangers would become friends in a matter of minutes as he would enlighten them of some type of past relationship that crossed their paths. Jerry recalled events that went all the way back to 1938. He could tell story upon story with details that seemed impossible to remember. Jerry was first ordained as a deacon while serving at Trinity Baptist Church in Ada, OK, and served as a deacon at each church he affiliated with for the rest of his life.
