April is when people start being more active again—yard work, workouts, posture changes—and the lats get overused fast. Tight lats can quietly mess up shoulders, neck, and even low back.

Feeling tight in those areas? Your latissimus dorsi—the big muscle running along your back—might be the reason why! When it’s tight, it can pull on your shoulders and spine, making movement harder and causing tension. Massage, gentle stretches, and a little self-care can help you release it and move freely again.

This month we’re highlighting two important shoulder stabilizers: the supraspinatus and infraspinatus.

These muscles play a huge role in helping you lift, rotate, and stabilize your shoulder. When they become tight or overworked, it can lead to shoulder pain, reduced mobility, and tension that spreads into the neck and upper back.

Tight rotator cuff muscles are especially common for people who:
• Work at a desk
• Lift weights
• Perform repetitive arm movements
• Have posture-related shoulder tension
