Let's talk about something that many people dont agree with or even think of it as a important tool that needs to be introduced wheather you use or not use cause you never know when your dog may have to use in a situation such as emergencies or vet visits? This is something I personally introduced all my dogs to because ITS important even just showing them the picture and them being comfortable with it .
Example: dog having surgery may or may not have to use this tool for the safety of going or coming out of sedation? Or dog gets hurt and becomes reactive in a different state of mind? There are many situations you dont think could happen till it happens and with our program we love to set our teams up for success and show them every picture possible and with 9 years under my belt doing this ive personally experienced it or have experienced it with veterans and pups in program and im far from a person who wants to see failure so were conditioning for EVERYTHING. Ask any of my veterans. So with that.......
Let’s talk muzzle training—not because your dog is “bad,” but because it’s a smart, safe, and compassionate tool for many pups!
Muzzles can:
• Prevent bites during stressful situations (emergency, vet visits, sometimes even grooming)
BUT it’s important to muzzle train/conditionally with proper sizing the right way so your dog feels comfortable and confident!
How to condition:
• Use positive reinforcement (treats, praise!)
• Start slow—let them sniff and explore the muzzle
• Gradually build up wear time with fun activities
• Never use it as punishment
Remember: a muzzle doesn’t mean a “bad dog”—it means a dog has someone who cares and who’s setting them up for success!
