🧠💥The amount of feedback we’ve gotten on this weeks’ episode on advanced approaches to managing cholesterol and cardiovascular risk with is so exciting. I highly recommend it to anyone in healthcare or navigating high cholesterol personally.

🔍 Key insights from this episode:

- High cholesterol has many genetic factors, and if you’re not checking if your client is a synthesizer vs. recycler, you’re missing a big part of the equation.

- Tests like ApoB and Lp(a) can tell us far more than LDL alone.

- Triglycerides are an early warning sign of insulin resistance, and HbA1c should be considered highly personalized given the latest research around the problems encountered when measuring it. This is why trends are so important.

- There are multiple medication options beyond statins (like Zetia and PCSK9 inhibitors), and Dr. Henry breaks them down in the most approachable way I’ve heard yet.

🎯 Whether you’re a provider or a patient, this episode is a masterclass in how to approach lipid panels with nuance and clarity.

📚 Bonus: Dr. Henry’s analogies (like cholesterol balls with “sticky hands”) make it all click.

Two of my favorite humans came together this week to give us the podcast version of a handbook for anyone with endometriosis or who thinks they could have it.

Endometriosis can be a painful and debilitating condition to deal with and up to 10% of American women will experience it at some point in their lives.

Moreover, it can often take from 7 to 12 years to get the right diagnosis 😞

Today, we’re doing our part to help change that. We dive deep into endometriosis symptoms, tests, and natural solutions for managing it effectively.

To help us with that, we have and , two experts who themselves have had endometriosis and have dedicated their lives to helping other folks find and heal their root cause ❤️

Dietary choline is medicine 💊 for the brain 🧠

Top food sources of choline include
🥩beef liver and beef
🍳Eggs
🌱Soybeans
🍗Chicken
🐟Cod

If you’re an adult, you need about 400-550mg of choline per day to stay healthy according to the NIH.

For context, you’d have to eat about 3 ounces of beef liver 🥘 AND one large egg 🥚every single day to get that amount.

If you or a family member are not eating these foods regularly, it’s worth a conversation with your provider about what supplementation could ensure that you still get the benefits of this important nutrient.

Many good multivitamins now contain a significant amount of choline, but have to know which ones to pick. 💊

Thank you to the researchers who put in the work to help us understand how food can be our medicine when it comes to cognitive health 💙

📈 “Eczema affects more than 30 million Americans and has been steadily on the rise since the 1970s. About 50 years ago, the incidence was 1 in 15 people. Now, it’s more than 1 in 8 in some populations.

💔 “It’s heart-wrenching for the parents to see their children’s discomfort. And at times, we feel so helpless.
While treatments like topical creams can help reduce inflammation, Americans, on average, pay over $1000 a year for a condition that is said to have no cure. However, . Ana-Maria Temple uses a different approach, ones that heals eczema from the inside out, and that’s helped thousand of families stop the eczema cycle.

🎙️ In this episode of The Root Cause Medicine Podcast, she joined us to share her approach on how to heal eczema from within.

Our Story

We launched on Valentine’s Day, 2020. I’d like to think that’s because we do everything with love.

I say “we” because this clinic would not be possible without the dear friends, family members, teachers, mentors, fellow physicians and professionals I’ve met over the past decade who’ve helped to push this movement forward.

Our vision was to create a medical practice that allowed for true connection, kindness, and spectacular, life-changing, whole-person healing. We wanted to use the most advanced science to provide outside-the-box, modern holistic healthcare at an accessible price. We committed ourselves to doing whatever it takes to be a safe space for the LGBTQIA community, those with trauma, folks on the spectrum (all of us!), foster kids and those who feel generally left out of the medical system. We have a lifelong pursuit of excellence and greatness that allows us to serve those with rare conditions and high performers who are looking to push themselves to the next level in their workouts, work or relationships.

In short, we wanted to be a healing space for everyone.
