This mare came in from Florida with the only information as “grass founder”. She was quite uncomfortable. I chose the black steward clog and rasped the breakover back just a bit. Later X-rays showed we achieved optimal breakover just at the tip of the coffin bone(which does show some pedal osteitis) for minimal leverage and pressure. Sure is rewarding when we get it right for the horse!

This is a horse that had a quarter crack that I was able to fix with a simple patch and drain with a slight float. Not all of them are this easy but I am thankful to have tools and capabilities to apply in more extreme cases as well. The original crack occurred in January of 22’ and was almost completely grown out in January of 23’. The horse has had no quarter crack to present day and remained in competition the entire time of healing.
