Headed somewhere fun with your little ones? Here’s how to keep everyone’s nervous system calm at 30,000 feet ✈️
Traveling with toddlers can feel overwhelming, but with a few simple strategies, you can actually make it work (and maybe even enjoy it!)
Here’s what helps:
🔹 Book direct flights when you can. Try scheduling around nap time or evening flights, then stick to your normal bedtime routine (pjs, bottle/nursing, the whole thing)
🔹 Pack easy, mess-free snacks in spill-proof containers. Less cleanup = less stress for everyone
🔹 Bring your stroller all the way to the gate, then gate-check it. You’ll have help getting through the airport, and it can cart your bags when you’re holding your toddler
🔹 Keep an emergency change of clothes in your carry-on (trust me on this one)
🔹 Grab a new small toy they’ve never seen and save it for the plane. Fresh entertainment = priceless
🔹 Pre-board to get settled OR board last to minimize time in those cramped seats—do whatever feels right for your family
🔹 For car seat safety tips, check out . Don’t check your car seat if you can avoid it
The key? Keep things as close to normal routine as possible. When their environment feels familiar, their little nervous systems stay regulated, and everyone has a better trip.
