Mushroom Fun Fact:
Humans have used mushrooms for medicine for thousands of years. Ancient texts from China describe mushrooms as symbols of health and longevity.
🍄 One of the most famous ancient Chinese books, the Shennong Bencao Jing (Classic of the Materia Medica), dated to the Han dynasty (206 BCE-220 CE), lists several mushrooms—like lingzhi (reishi)—among its medicinal plants. These were used for longevity, immune strength, and overall vitality.
🍄 The concept of Zhī (芝) in Daoism referred to sacred mushrooms thought to promote health and even immortality. They were often associated with emperors, philosophers, and alchemists in ancient China.
