In the new year, our interns dive into the experience of searching for jobs in their community. Project SEARCH staff meet with interns one-on-one to determine the best fit, practice interview skills, polish resumes, and apply for available positions.

It’s incredible to watch our interns put all the workplace experience they’ve gained here at Delnor to use as they take this next big step. 🌟

Throwback Thursday! ☕📸

We’re looking back at a great Project SEARCH moment when we hosted a Business Advisory Council (BAC) coffee and open house, welcoming Northwestern Medicine Huntley Hospital into our classroom.

Our interns had the opportunity to practice professional etiquette while engaging with guests, building confidence, and real-world workplace skills. To show their appreciation, interns created thoughtful thank-you gifts and a special poster recognizing our BAC members, Steering Committee, managers, and mentors.

We are so grateful for the continued support and partnerships that make experiences like this possible—and so meaningful! 🌟

Help us congratulate our amazing intern, Jess, on her expanded duties! 🎉

Jess is a Project SEARCH intern at Northwestern Medicine Delnor Hospital, and thanks to her exceptional work in the registration department, her manager asked if she was ready to take on some new responsibilities—and she was thrilled to say yes!

Jess is now independently manning the outpatient registration desk, where her smiling face is the first thing patients see when they arrive. She helps streamline the check-in process by gathering patient information so patients can have a seat while they wait to be called.

Way to go, Jess, for stepping up, taking on new challenges, and brightening people’s days while you do it! 🌟👏

Our Project SEARCH interns at Northwestern Medicine Central DuPage Hospital are building the real-world skills it takes to succeed in the workplace, including mastering independent transportation. 🚌🚗

By learning how to set SMART goals, interns are planning for the future, growing their independence, and achieving big milestones—like buying their first car!

Helper of the Month – Cardiac Telemetry Unit at Northwestern Medicine Huntley Hospital goes to Carter! 🎉

Carter is a Project SEARCH intern at Northwestern Medicine Huntley Hospital, and during the second round of internships, we partnered with a brand-new department. Carter applied, interviewed, and proudly became their very first Project SEARCH intern!

Knowing he was representing not only himself but the entire Project SEARCH program, Carter set out to show just how capable, hardworking, and professional Project SEARCH interns are—and he absolutely delivered. 💪

The Cardiac Telemetry Unit recognized his dedication by nominating him as Helper of the Month and even featuring his photo on the unit!

Shoutout to Carter for your hard work, professionalism, and for being an incredible teammate. We are SO proud of you! 🌟👏

Project SEARCH Delnor staff recently attended the Special Education Parent University event at Oswego East High School! Hosted by SD308, the event featured a variety of breakout sessions where parents learned more about the resources available to support their children, including sessions on Behavior Connections and Understanding an IEP.

Project SEARCH Delnor was excited to share information about the impactful programs offered by Parents Alliance Employment Project and highlight the importance of individualized employment services in building successful futures.
