“Dating isn’t just about finding the right person — it’s about navigating the fears that show up along the way. These are the five I see most often in therapy. Awareness is the first step toward healthier connection.” What are your fears of dating?

In a recent discussion within the Couch Theory group, the question was posed, 'What are some potential relationship concerns?' Group members readily identified a number of red flags in others, including disrespect, infidelity, and poor etiquette. However, when reflecting on their own behaviors, group members struggled to acknowledge more than one or two areas for personal improvement. Why do we tend to readily recognize red flags in others, yet find it challenging to identify them within ourselves? Join the Couch Theory group to explore this phenomenon further and gain insight into your own relationship dynamics.

Hiking is a good metaphor for the healing journey. There is a lot of uphill, some downhills and along the way there are beautiful views and places you would never get to by staying where you are. Wherever you are on your journey, keep going and keep climbing. It will all be worth it!

I started hiking more seriously a few years ago. I love the weight of the pack on my back and overcoming the elements. There is something about being one with nature and the unveiled beauty of going places that very few people can get to. Sleeping under a moon and feeling close enough to touch the stars. There is no other feeling like it!!

A hurtful statement can be called a mistake. But a repeated pattern of hurtful statements or uncaring attitudes or even unjust expectations is much more than a mistake. These patterns are misuses of the purposes of a relationship.

“You teach people how to treat you by what you allow, what you stop, and what you reinforce." Tony Gaskins

This seems obvious, but so many times it isn't. We like to blame the other person and we think to ourselves, if only they would stop that. But how do they know to stop it if we aren't telling them that it isn't okay with us? Relationships struggle when boundaries aren't stated or they made clear. The first step is to understand and make your boundaries clear to yourself. Need help in this area, my team or myself are here to assist. I love teaching boundaries and watching people make positive changes. Boundaries came make all the difference!!

I'm so proud of my mom! She recently performed in her first piano recital at the age of 72. She was very nervous but got up there and performed like a champ! It just goes to show that it's never too late to start a new passion and learn something new. Our only barriers are the limitations we set in our own minds. So, get out there, nerves and all and start that passion or hobby that you've always wanted to. It's never too late!!
