September 8 through September 12 is National Assisted Living Week. We are having a fun filled week, with a themed day each day. We are inviting families to join in and share the days with us. Follow the theme and come dressed as each day suggests. We look forward to seeing you here at Hacienda Del Rey. We appreciate our families, our residents and most of all, our staff.

Our group of ladies were treated like royalty at Dairy Queen. Each had a special lunch and to top it off , they had ice cream. All of these ladies loved their lunches, eating very wall, then complaining they ate too much, they couldn't even move. But then came the ice cream and boy, did they make room. They were teased with walking back home until they decided they weren't THAT full. All of us had a great time, laughing and talking with each other. What a nice day.

United Hospice, Chaplain Ricky Aulds, Hope and Ricky's wife, Sherry, were here to present a Celebration of Life. Ricky read psalms and sang familiar songs that all of the group knew. Each resident was asked to speak about someone that touched their life. Be it someone that passed or someone in their lives now. It was such a touching and healing ceremony. Hope brought with her a Tree of Life and leaves were filled to remember those we lost. Memory cards sharing a fond memory, and a little keepsake of light. Thank you, United Hospice, Ricky and Hope.

It was a This Little Piggy race with our adorable pigs. Residents bet on the wining pig. You could bet on several pigs if you chose, but you had make sure you had enough money. Our biggest winner, Susan, won $40.00. It was a new take on our horse racing game.

When Dave comes to our community, it's get up and move time. Dave provides us with karaoke, songs our group enjoys singing to as well as dancing. Richard from Wings of Hope helped celebrate the fun with creamsciles in honor of National Creamsicle Day. Little did Richard know that he would be pulled onto the dance floor to sing and join in. It was Elvis Week and we celebrated it with our favorite Elvis impersonator, Freddy G. Freddy has several famous singers that he impersonates and he is wonderful. Several popular Elvis rock songs as well as some Gospel songs were sung. Our Culinary staff even created the famous Elvis sandwich, grilled peanut butter and bacon sandwich with a twist , honey and cinnamon drizzled on top. Good songs, food and fun with our group singing along. Thank you, Freddy G, for always coming through for us.

We were definitely in need of peace and calming and Maria Garcia was the perfect person to bring it to us. Maria brought her quartz singing bowls, chimes and sound bath for a very calming afternoon. While the group listened to the bowls and the chimes, they all received a back, neck and shoulder massage. Maria, thank you for bringing such a peaceful end to our Friday.
