🔥 Why it works:
• Muscles pull glucose out of your bloodstream during activity — lowering blood sugar and improving control.
• Regular movement increases insulin sensitivity so your body handles sugar better even after you’re done.
• Adults with diabetes who meet activity guidelines (about 150 min/week of moderate aerobic exercise + resistance training) see better weight control, heart health, and lower risk of complications.
💡 Make it sustainable:
Find activities YOU enjoy — brisk walking, dancing, strength training, biking — consistency beats intensity. There’s no “one right way” as long as you stay active.
👉 Start small, stay consistent, and talk with your care team about how exercise fits your diabetes plan!

Omega-3 fatty acids are a great way of supporting heart health and can be found in many WIC-approved foods! You can find them in:

🐟Canned fish like salmon and tuna
🍳Eggs and soy products like tofu
🥑Brussels sprouts and avocados

Omega-3 fats have also been shown to be important during pregnancy, as they are important building blocks of the fetal brain and retina. These foods can help reduce inflammation, lower blood pressure, and support eye health! 💕

March 21 is the International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination.

This day recognizes the importance of equality, dignity, and respect for all people. It also commemorates the events of March 21, 1960, when 69 people were killed during a peaceful protest against apartheid laws in Sharpeville, South Africa.

Racial discrimination can affect health and well-being in many ways, including access to healthcare, mental health, and trust in health systems.

Public health works to promote health equity—ensuring that everyone has a fair and just opportunity to be as healthy as possible.

Today we reflect on the progress that has been made and reaffirm our commitment to building healthier, more inclusive communities for all.
