For John Long, a Kodak Browning gifted by his father sparked a lifelong passion for cameras, photography, and education.

After earning a degrees in Industrial Arts Education from Millersville University, John went on to teach the subject at Spring Grove High School, Lincoln Middle School, and McCaskey High School where he taught for 29 years. Last week we had the pleasure of hearing from John as he shared his knowledge and camera collection with us during this month's artist showcase in the Luther Acres - A Luthercare Community Haagen Gallery.

Hospital stays can be anything but pleasant, especially as a child. Blankets4 Zane helps change that, adding color and comfort to children's days by distributing blankets to hospitals in FL and PA. Help us support this great organization by donating blankets to our Luthercare for Kids—Annville Early Learning Center by 11/12.

Today at the Lancaster Walk to End Alzheimer's we reflected on the connections we have to all who have been affected by Alzheimer's. Walking alongside one another, we were filled with hope for the day that we can proudly celebrate the first survivor of this disease. Thank you to everyone in our community for your support, compassion, and dedication towards this cause. Together, we are making strides toward a future where Alzheimer’s is no longer a part of our story!

With the last few warm days upon us, we took a day trip down to Maryland for one last summer getaway! While there we took in the beautiful sights and culinary offerings that Chesapeake City had to offer us, with plenty of time to enjoy the canal with our friends and neighbors.

We had a blast at the first all-campus block party of the season at St. John's Herr Estate - A Luthercare Community ! This event saw a smile on everyone's face with yard games, grill fired food, and live music. Thank you to all who helped this event come together, and to everyone who joined in making it another wonderful evening here in Columbia!

In the latest Teaching Kitchen session we had a great time learning how to make oven baked margherita pizza from scratch using our very own pizza oven at Acres - A Luthercare Community. This newly reformatted class is designed to be both instructive and delicious with hands-on lessons delivered by our own chefs from Morrison Living. Bon appétit!
