🦷Root Canal Fact of the Week🦷:

Once the pulp dies within the tooth, the infection process is gradual and may eventually produce symptoms such as swelling, sensitivity to hot or cold and pain to pressure or bite.

What is tooth pulp exactly and is it important?
Pulp is the tissue located in the interior of the tooth that contains the tooth's blood vessels, connective tissues and nerves that extends all the way through the canals of the tooth. The nerves, blood vessels and connective tissues are what helps the tooth interpret its environment and keeps it healthy from the inside out.

🦷Root Canal Fact of the Week🦷:

A tooth requiring root canal treatment won't always be in pain. It is possible to need root canal treatment even if the tooth is "silent". However, the tooth can flare up at any given time and you may begin showing symptoms that infection is present in the tooth.

Once the tooth is symptomatic it is time to seek the care of an endodontist. According to the American Association of Endodontists, "endodontists are specially trained to test a tooth to see if the pulp has been infected or damaged" (https://www.aae.org/patients/root-canal-treatment/myths-root-canals/). After endo testing is completed by your provider, the root canal procedure will begin!

24 years later we are still remembering the bravery and heroism shown by all the first responders, police force and fire fighters in response to the tragedy of the Twin Towers falling on September 11th, 2001. We will never forget as a nation all the lives that were lost and families lives that were changed permanently on this day. Our thoughts and prayers are with all those who have been effected by September 11th, 2001. We see you. Myths and Facts of Root Canals:

Myth: Root canals are painful.
Fact: Root canal treatment relieves pain, not causes it. The pain comes from the infected tooth, and the procedure itself is designed to eliminate that pain.
Myth: Root canals "kill" the tooth.
