"There's a richness that comes when we allow ourselves to live at the pace of our own breath. And I've learned that community plays a role in that."

That desire for connection and intentional planning led Miriam to become a member of Friends LifeCare. Though she doesn't dwell on the technical details of the program, she speaks highly of its philosophy. "What drew me in was the people. I sensed a shared value, that less can truly be more. That planning ahead isn't about control, it's about peace of mind."

Fall mornings and evenings around Landis Homes are hard to beat.

These photos from Leon Weber show just how beautiful the season can be, especially quiet walks by the pond and the colors of the sky at sunrise and sunset.

This morning was something special! Director of Dementia Friendly Experience, Teffie Landmann, and Campus Services Manager, David Ponzini, partnered to lead a Crisis Intervention Training (CIT) session for local law enforcement officers.

Together, they walked through real-life scenarios officers encounter every day, explored how dementia can impact behavior and perception, and shared approaches that keep safety and dignity at the center.

From practicing redirection techniques to experiencing what it’s like to see the world through the eyes of someone living with dementia, this was hands-on learning at its most meaningful. We’re grateful for the chance to build understanding and compassion—because every interaction matters.

Here, officers show off glasses designed to create vision similar to that of people who have dementia.
