Very cool!
Little Elm’s headed to space! 🚀 We are proud to share that Little Elm’s own Rebecca “Becky” Lawler has been selected as part of NASA’s 2025 Astronaut Candidate Class. Out of more than 8,000 applicants, only 10 were chosen and Becky was one of them.
Her journey is nothing short of inspiring:
• Former U.S. Navy Lieutenant Commander and test pilot
• Hurricane Hunter with NOAA, flying into storms to gather critical data
• Adjunct professor and mentor in engineering and flight test programs
• Test pilot for United Airlines, flying Boeing and Airbus aircraft
• Degrees in mechanical engineering, space systems engineering, and flight test engineering
She has logged more than 2,800 flight hours in over 45 aircraft and has served her country and community with distinction.
Though she was born in Lewisville, Becky calls Little Elm her hometown, and we could not be prouder to see one of our own take this giant leap toward the stars.
