CHI St. Gabriel's Health

CHI St. Gabriel's Health We are dedicated to delivering high quality, compassionate care to Little Falls and surrounding areas. CHI St. The cornerstone of CHI St. St.

Gabriel’s Health is a multi-facility health care entity which also includes Family Medical Center (a multispecialty clinic), Little Falls Orthopedics (a orthopedic and podiatry practice), St. Camillus Place (a 14-bed home for adults with developmental disabilities), and Alverna Apartments (a 60-unit, HUD-subsidized senior housing complex), all located in Little Falls. Gabriel’s Health is St. Gabri

el’s Hospital, which was founded by the Franciscan Sisters of Little Falls (FSLF) in 1891 and received its first patient in January 1892. The first hospital-only building opened in 1916 (portions still in use today). The hospital continued to grow throughout the 20th century until it reached a maximum of 124-beds in the early 1980s. The introduction of the Prospective Pricing System and changes in Medicare and other hospital reimbursement led to a gradual reduction in beds throughout the 1990s and eventually incentives related to becoming a critical access hospital (CAH) resulted in downsizing to our current license of 49-beds. Gabriel’s Hospital as well as its affiliated clinics and home health agency are certified by The Joint Commission, a national quality accreditation organization. Family Medical Center is CHI St. Gabriel’s Health’s second largest entity with approximately 25 providers (physicians and mid-level practitioners) in the following specialties: family medicine, general surgery, internal medicine, obstetrics and gynecology and pediatrics. It functions as a department of St. Gabriel’s Hospital and has locations in Little Falls, Pierz and Randall) and joined CHI St. Gabriel’s Health in 2010. Little Falls Orthopedics (LFO) has five orthopedic surgeons and two podiatrists who see patients through its primary location in Little Falls as well as satellite locations throughout central Minnesota in the communities of Albany, Long Prairie, Melrose, and Sauk Centre. LFO surgeons perform a wide range of procedures at St. Gabriel’s Hospital as well as the hospital affiliated with its satellite locations. LFO joined CHI St. Gabriel’s Health in 2007. Gabriel’s Home Health and Hospice is a Medicare-certified home health and hospice agency. It also functions as a department of CHI St. Gabriel’s Health and has consistently been ranked as an Elite Top 500 home care agency. Thank you for contacting us. It can be hard to tell the difference between normal life changes and something more. If you or a loved one has noticed ongoing sadness, loss of interest in activities, changes in sleep, or increased worry, it may be time to talk to someone.

These experiences are common, but they are not something you have to accept without support.

Celebrating Over Two Decades of Dedicated Voices: Happy Speech Therapy Month!
This May, as we celebrate Better Hearing & Speech Month, we at CHI St. Gabriel’s Health want to take a moment to shine a well-deserved spotlight on two cornerstone members of our incredible therapy team: Sue, our adult speech therapist and Mischelle, our pediatric speech therapist.

For over two decades, these dedicated professionals have been an invaluable presence within our walls, transforming lives one sound, one word, one swallow at a time. Over twenty years of unwavering commitment to our community, over two decades of profound impact – that’s an extraordinary legacy to acknowledge and celebrate!

To Sue, thank you. For over twenty years (almost 30), you have provided a beacon of hope and recovery for countless adults facing the challenges of stroke, neurological conditions, voice disorders, and dysphagia. Your expertise in helping patients regain their ability to communicate effectively, to swallow safely, and to find their voice again after life-altering events, has not only improved their physical well-being but has also profoundly impacted their confidence, independence, and connection to their loved ones. Your compassionate approach and deep understanding of the unique needs of adult patients truly make a difference every single day.

And to Mischelle, thank you. For two decades, you have been a champion for our littlest patients, guiding them through the intricate world of language development, articulation, fluency, and feeding. You’ve unlocked voices that were once silent, helped children express their thoughts and feelings, and empowered families with the tools and strategies to support their child’s growth. The joy in a parent’s eyes when their child speaks their first clear word, or when they can finally eat a meal without difficulty, is a testament to your remarkable skill, boundless patience, and unwavering belief in every child's potential.

Your years of service is not just a measure of time; it's a testament to countless hours of patient care, continuous learning, adapting to new research and techniques, and building strong, trusting relationships with patients and their families. It’s a testament to a deep-seated passion for the power of communication and the profound impact it has on quality of life.

We are incredibly grateful for your steadfast dedication, your exceptional clinical skills, and your compassionate hearts. You embody the very best of CHI St. Gabriel’s Health, and your contributions over the past twenty years have shaped this department and enriched the lives of so many.

Please join us in extending our deepest gratitude and warmest wishes to our esteemed adult and pediatric speech therapists this Better Hearing & Speech Month. Your legacy of care continues to inspire us all!

Congratulations to our Daisy Award winner Amanda Landowski.

"Amanda helped provide care for our grandma in the comfort of her own home for the past two years. Recently, my grandmother transitioned to hospice card, and we knew right away which company we wanted to go with, simply because Amanda was on their staff. This transition was incredibly hard for use, but Amanda helped our grandma and our family through the process. When everything felt completely out of our control, she gave us a sense of control by offering choices in her care. When things were overwhelming, she gently explained everything in a way that eased us. When conflicts arose between family members, she helped navigate those situations and reminded us that grief shows differently for everyone. When things felt so dark, like the sun might never shine again, she reminded us of happiness - like the puppy she brought to visit us. Amanda, thank you for the care you provided in all of these moments. Our best, Jackie, Rod, Megan, Brooke and Alli. "

Let’s Talk About Stigma

Many older adults grew up in a time when mental health was not openly discussed. As a result, myths like “I should handle this on my own” or “this is just part of getting older” can make it harder to reach out.

The truth is that support can make a meaningful difference. Depression, anxiety, and grief are treatable, and no one has to navigate them alone.

CHI St. Gabriel's Health Senior Life Solutions supports older adults experiencing depression, anxiety, or loneliness. Starting the conversation can be the first step toward feeling better.
