Abigail was born on June 27, 2001, to loving parents, Kristina Steiner (Fisher) and Michael Steiner, in St Cloud. From an early age she displayed an incredible talent for art. She would paint and draw for hours on end, perfecting characters from anime and cartoons. She was dedicated to perfection, and if one detail was not to her liking, Abigail would scrap the project and start anew. Abigail graduated from Foley High School in 2019 and pursued her passion for art as a tattoo artist. Her journey progressed from starting out tattooing in her family's home to completing her apprenticeship at a tattoo shop prior to opening her own business, Stein Ink, in July of 2025. Abigail, ever the artist, would even design her own logos, which captured her unique personality and style. As her skills improved, her detail-oriented personality enabled her to treat each tattoo with care and precision.

Abigail not only cared for others in her tattoo studio, but she also dedicated herself to serving in the Air Force Reserve 934th Airlift Wing. After graduating from basic training in 2020, she rose to the rank of E-5 Staff Sergeant and worked as an aerospace medic within her battalion. Abigail enjoyed her time caring for fellow service men and women during her time at the VA in Minneapolis. Her compassion and loyalty will be remembered by all with whom she served.

In her free time, Abigail enjoyed thrifting and playing video games. She collected vintage arcade games and Funko Pop figurines. She was also an avid outdoorswoman and enjoyed spending many adventurous days hunting, fishing, snowmobiling, and riding side-by-sides. Abigail created beauty wherever she went. Abigail was a kind, loving, and creative soul who created beautiful and lasting marks on people's lives in many ways.

Left to cherish her memory are her parents, Kristina and Michael Steiner; sister, Amanda Steiner; and future brother-in-law, Joseph Braiedy.

Abigail is preceded in death by her grandma, Carol Fisher; grandfather, Mitchell Steiner; and great-grandfather Earle Fisher Sr.

Valerie Mae Thomas

Valerie Thomas passed away at St. Joseph's Medical Center in Brainerd, MN, on April 6th, 2026, at the age of 67. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, April 11th at Emblom-Brenny Funeral Chapel in Little Falls, MN, with Father Maciej officiating. A visitation will be held from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm on Friday, April 10th, and again from 10:00 am until the hour of service on Saturday, April 11th, at the Emblom-Brenny Funeral Chapel.

Valerie Thomas was born in Little Falls, MN to Maurice and Theresia Becker. She was the third eldest of eight children. She grew up northeast of Lastrup on the family farm. After graduating from high school, Valerie moved to Brainerd and began dating Marvin Thomas. Soon after, they married on July 23rd, 1977. The couple settled north of Pierz on a small family farm turned into MarVal Ranch in 2000. Her home meant the world to her. In 1978, they welcomed their son Charles, and in 1980, their daughter Stacy. They were her pride and joy. Her heart opened even larger when her grandchildren were born in 2004 and 2013.

She worked many years at the Larson/Glastron factory. After she was cut due to a large layoff, she began work at the Mille Lacs Reservation Government building, where she worked up to her death. Over the years, she also helped manage Thomas Welding & Machine since its inception in 1982, with her husband, Marvin. Her work didn't just stop with employment, she earned her Bachelor's degree in Business in 1996 and was often busy with the many hats it takes to help run a farm/ranch as well. She worked very hard toward her goals, always.

Valerie will be remembered most for her unwavering dedication to her family. She was the heart of her home-someone who showed her love not just in words, but through constant care, sacrifice, and presence. If someone she loved needed her, she was there without hesitation. Her strength and quiet determination defined her. Valerie was a caregiver in every sense of the word. She was a steady source of comfort and strength to her family, especially in times of illness, loss, and hardship. She showed up in the happiest of life's moments but also in the most difficult moments without question, offering support, compassion, and love when it was needed most.

Valerie had a remarkable talent for creating and fixing things with her hands. As a skilled seamstress, she made clothes, blankets, and repaired countless items for her family over the years. In the past two decades, she discovered a passion for carpentry, taking pride in building and improving her surroundings. She especially cherished her workshop-the shed she had always dreamed of-and the work she poured into remodeling her home.

Valerie is survived by her husband, Marvin of Pierz; her children, Charles (Katie Kimball) Thomas of Leola, SD and Stacy Thomas; her grandchildren, Thomas Herold and Brandt Thomas, and step-grandchildren Jace and Kailyn Kimball; siblings, Rodney (Colleen) Becker of St. Paul, Marilyn (Alvin) Boser of Pierz, Karen (Terry) Froelich of Pierz, Maureen (Joe) Heisick of Pillager, Brian (Kelly) Becker of Pierz, sister-in-laws, Bonnie Becker of Little Falls and Luann Becker of Buckman, and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Maurice and Theresia Becker, brothers Jeff and Gary Becker, son-in-laws, David Herold and Gary Funk, and nephews Jason Becker, Mark Becker, Michael Becker, and niece Angela Becker.

Valerie's legacy lives on in the hands she helped, the lives she supported, and the love she gave so freely. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, April 10 at 11:00 A.M. at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Buckman, Minnesota with Father Aaron Nett and Father Kenneth Popp concelebrating. The burial will be held in the parish cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4:00-7:00 P.M. on Thursday, April 9 at Emblom Brenny Funeral Service in Pierz and from 9:30-11:00 A.M. on Friday, April 10 at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Buckman. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the Pierz Area Food Shelf: 220 Main Street S #5, Pierz, MN 56364.

Joe was born on October 5, 1933 in Yellow Medicine County, Minnesota. He was the son of the late William and Margaret (Bach) Lanners. He grew up on a farm where he developed a love of farming and learned the value of hard work and community. He attended grade school in St. Leo, Minnesota and graduated from Clarkfield High School. After school, he enlisted in the United States Army on March 12, 1954 and was stationed in South Korea and Japan, being honorably discharged on February 29, 1956. He was united in marriage to Gloria Wambeke on February 16, 1957 at St. Edward's Catholic Church in Minneota, Minnesota. Shortly after their marriage, Joe and Gloria moved to the farm they purchased near Buckman. The young couple embraced the community, where they went on to raise seven children and forge lifelong friendships. After milking cows for thirty-eight years, the couple sold their dairy herd, but Joe stayed busy selling seed corn and continued farming the land.

A social person, Joe loved to visit with family and friends. Talking with him, you knew you were in for a long and interesting story! An avid fisherman, he enjoyed many fishing trips with friends and neighbors over the years.

After retiring, he embraced and expanded Gloria’s garden and also took up beekeeping. These hobbies provided an abundance of honey and produce for everybody in the community. Moving in fall of 2025 from his beloved farm to Highland Senior Living, the desire to plant still remained in his blood, where he hoped to still grow "a few radishes" over the summer. From professional Minnesota teams to local high school games, he liked watching sports and especially enjoyed spending Sunday afternoons in the summer cheering on the Buckman Billygoats. A longtime member of St. Michael's Catholic Church, his faith was important and he served for many years on both the church council and board of trustees. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and Pierz American Legion Post #341.

He is survived by his children: Deborah (Arthur) Krieg of Needham, MA; Sharon (Brad) Schmidtbauer of Anoka, MN; Laura (James) Garbe of Stillwater, MN; Donna (Morgan) Grelson of Burnsville, MN; James (Kristin) Lanners of Sartell, MN; Lisa (Todd) Lewis of Arlington, TX; and Jill (Kevin) Leyk of Bloomington, MN, along with 16 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren; siblings, Dorothy Oldakowski, Sister Edna Lanners, Walter (Diane) Lanners, Cletus (Lorraine) Lanners, and Joyce Citterman.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Gloria Lanners; infant son, Joseph James Lanners; granddaughter, Rachel Schmidtbauer; siblings, Lawrence (Jane) Lanners, Lorraine (Harry) Hofmeister, Alfred (Gladys) Lanners and Ruth (Vince) Caron; brothers-in-law, Ray Citterman and Bob Oldakowski and sister-in-law, Joanne Lanners.

The family of Joe would like to thank the area community for the wonderful friendship with their father over the years.
