It’s with heavy hearts that we share the passing of our colleague and friend, Stephen “Steve” Kawecki. This September would have marked Steve’s 47th year with Eventide, a remarkable milestone that speaks to his unwavering dedication, deep knowledge, and lasting impact on the company and all of us who had the privilege to work with him.

Hired in 1978, Steve was with us through nearly every chapter of Eventide’s story, from the early soldering benches in NYC to our move to Little Ferry, and through the eras of audio, computers, avionics, loggers, and beyond. As our co-founder Richard Factor put it, “Steve was a great and incredibly reliable employee, and truly a friend of the company. Of course, no remembrance of Steve would be complete without mention of The Cookies.”

Steve wasn’t one for fanfare, but his absence will be deeply felt by everyone here. Please join us in remembering him and the nearly five decades of heart he poured into this company. 🍪🍻💙

“I made them resemble lobby cards for an Italian horror movie. The imagined film follows a blinded ophthalmologist, Salvatore Pipistrello, performing miraculous surgeries through divine intercession. Prior to an operation, he prays to Saint Lucia to access a terrifying spiritual plane granting him sight through an assistant’s eyes. Eventually, the criminal who blinded him appears on his operating table. Sal contemplates how to exact revenge without forfeiting his presumed divinely granted powers. The idea came to me when imagining the scariest sight to behold in an operating room. The answer: a chief surgeon wearing dark sunglasses... for whatever reason.” —
