Yesterday, volunteers from Little Mountain Rescue and Prosperity Rescue Squad 17 practiced their auto extrication skills through two scenarios involving a car and 18-wheeler. A huge shoutout goes to Michael Hipp at Craig Hipp's Towing & Repair for setting up these scenarios and utilizing his heavy-duty rotator in one of them.

This week May 19-25,2024 is the 50th Anniversary of EMS Week! This year's theme, "Honoring Our Past. Forging Our Future," encourages us to recognize the efforts of those who paved the way for us, while also inspiring us to shape the EMS system of tomorrow. Let's take this opportunity to show our appreciation for the entire EMS profession and its vital role in safeguarding our community's well-being. A big thank you to our first responders of Little Mountain Rescue, Newberry County EMS, and the rest of County’s Rescue Squads for their tireless commitment to saving lives each and every day. Your service to Newberry County is truly commendable.

Download the SC 511 app to view the traffic condition on the interstate to help with your commute throughout South Carolina.

Interstate Commuters: Have you ever wanted to know the traffic conditions on I-26 or any other road way in the state? You can download the 511 SC traffic app on your smartphone to view the different traffic conditions and cameras on the interstate. Be aware that sometimes the cameras in the construction zone on I-26 is delayed or frozen up due to the cameras being temporary. Permanent cameras are being installed as part of the project. For Newberry County commuters traveling on 26 the cameras start at the 84 mile marker which is between HWY 773 and HWY 202 and continue down 26 all the way through Columbia. We hope everyone has a great and safe day!
