Yoga DiVita

Yoga DiVita A warm, welcoming environment for all to come together. A place to be with ease, breathe with clarity OM Purpose since January of 2009 in North Myrtle Beach, SC.

"Yoga DiVita is a warm, welcoming environment for all to come together. A place to be with ease, breathe with clarity, move with grace, and to realize you are perfect." Meet the teacher/founder;
My name is Dawn DiVita! Back in 1998 I was living in Key West, FL and stumbled across 2 very amazing VHS’s with Patricia Walden and Rodney Yee. I was a gym rat up to that point, although I needed and desired to find something that would ground and calm me. My very fiery spirit was absolutely blown away with my 1st class, which led to my 2nd, which led to where I am today ~ sharing the practice body, breath, mind, and spirit. In 2003 my family and I lived in Williamsburg, VA. I ventured into my first training with NESTA certification and began teaching at the EVSPA performing arts academy for 2 years. It felt so incredible to enrich people’s lives with this practice. From 1998 to 2005, I felt I was missing something…a teacher. In 2006, we moved to the beach to be closer to family! In 2009, I began studying with my teacher, Trace Sahaja Bonner. She is the founder/teacher of Holy Cow Yoga Center in Charleston, SC. Trace’s teacher is Swami Satichadanda, the founder of Yogaville and also my guru. I am very grateful for their guidance and mentorship. Since then I have had the pleasure to train and study under some amazing teacher’s near and far; Dawn Yager, Jason Crandell, Allison Dennis, and Gabriel Halpern to just name a few of my favorites. My trainings and areas of focus have been in several areas; hatha, yin, gentle, kids, kundalini, vinyasa, prenatal, and restorative. I also love to personally dive into and share the philosophy, meditation, and daily spiritual practice(sadhana) of yoga. Yoga DiVita was founded in 2009 in North Myrtle Beach. Yoga DiVita literally means “Union of Life” and was the perfect business name as I began my journey to share the practice to our community. I am so excited at what amazing students and teachers have found a hOMe in this community through Yoga DiVita. Classes have been offered in many places across our North Myrtle Beach area; J. Bryan Community Center, Parkway Plaza, and the Big RED Barn. Each space was perfect with purpose and serving many, teachers and students. It has expanded and contracted like our breath, the ebb and flow of life. May of 2016, I find myself excited with the opportunity to settle in at the Legion Martial Arts to offer classes solely Monday - Friday at 9:30am. Each week has a theme or focus and this information is posted on the home page of Yoga DiVita's website. You will find more amazing information from food, to special events, to shared stories under our cool offerings. Yoga is way more than a pose, sitting in stillness...it is a journey and encompasses every moment of your life! Since 2010, I have had the opportunity to be a teacher for a program called Kidz Yoga. During the school year, I start each morning off with the children within our public school system. We teach them the fundamentals of breath and body awareness through creative activities, games, group poses, partner poses, and individual practice. These little ones are amazing and as much a teacher to me as I am to them. In 2017, Yoga DiVita became an accredited Yoga Alliance School. Want to listen in on an interview with owner Wendy Fields of The Beach Beat and yoga teacher Dawn DiVita...Click Here! Wendy asks fantastic questions that many new to the practice inquire about. The interview begins at about the 10 minute mark. I look forward to meeting you on your yogic journey. Whether it is your first time practicing or you are a seasoned practioner, it will be amazing! This morning, we practiced shoulder shrugs in our 7am virtual Monday class.
It doesn't sound difficult; however, it is.

You know the saying, "The weight of the world on your shoulders."

Try lifting them to your ears with a deep, earthy inhale, and then drop them with a loud exhale. Move the breath in and out of the nose. Let the action of dropping be so that you feel it in your pelvic bowl.

Inhale Up
Exhale Drop
Inhale Squeeze
Exhale Let It Go
Repeat for 30 to 60 seconds.

We need strength and softness.
That was the focus this morning.

So after working within that strong space, we shook, wiggled, and jumped for 3 minutes.

Cleansing the body and mind before entering our day is priceless. It supports you and the world around you. You are tuned into your radiance, tenderness, and location of your abilities today.

If that sounds big, it is.

Go slow. Meet yourself every day.
Awakening is not a drive-thru experience but a lifelong journey.

Happy March! Nature is beginning to show us this month that a gentle rising or reawakening is occurring in our bodies, minds, and souls.

This is important now more than ever.

I don't talk politics, especially within our sacred circles. But today, I open FB and am slammed with what is happening. I do not see my friends - just the BS.

My emotions are swirling between wanting to cry, crawl into a closet, and scream at where we are. It is confusing, overwhelming, and brutally tearing us apart.

What I know is this.

I have to keep rooting myself in my values and beliefs.

Love wins.

I have spent so much time wrapped in anger and fear in my life. I will not let where we are now entangle me; I no longer reside there. So, what I know is this...

I will move forward within our days and see your eyes and hearts because we need to be deeply felt with unconditional love.

I will move forward doing what I love and know supports our health. Our inner strength and resiliency will continue to be bountiful.

I will move forward, sharing from my heart's deepest passion so that my path exudes a positive, safe, and uplifting space for them to enter.

I know Gaia fully supports us. I lean into her wisdom, magic, and trust she will hold me in those moments of doubt.

We belong here.
We belong here.
We belong here.

I feel like Dorothy in a sort of twisted way. Not quite sure how we got here, but here we are trying to get home.

On this last day of February, remember LOVE is a language. It is the sweetest and most needed emotion every day of the year.

Tomorrow, we enter a month of AWAKENING ~ UGH. I have all the trust in the world that it will fully tap into our empowerment.

Please join me in class for some kundalini cleansing - thank God!

Thank you for allowing me to share and supporting me along the way too ~ Sat Nam, Dawn

What is one thing that you can be proud of? Play with me and share in the comments!

In our practice, I invite us to constantly place our hands on our bodies. That connection brings the monkey-mind to a slight halt. It allows you space to feel that this is where I am in my body, or where I am feeling these emotions in my body.

Connection creates a point of contact. From that space, you can move forward knowingly, choosing to do so with love and support. It is simple, BUT it requires your awareness, attention, and intention to change.

When we close our classes at YD, we place our hands on our hearts, eyes closed, and I ask,

"How do you want to feel as you move forward into your day?"

Then, I offer a moment for you to make it your intention or affirmation by placing "I am..." before that feeling.

I conclude with "As you move forward into your day, choose the words, thoughts, and actions in alignment with that feeling."

Maybe today is the day that, as you set your feet on the floor before entering your day, you set this intention.

Practice. Practice. Practice.

May I offer a tip?

It helps if you cleanse the body before making these intentions. You know that monkey-mind begins even before you open those sweet eyes.

It doesn't have to be a long practice or super intense. 10, 20, or 30 minutes of practice is better than none. I prefer a kundalini yoga cleanse; however, even my Ayurvedic routine (dinacharya), first thing in the morning, offers me stability and a foundational physical practice that helps me tune into what feels balanced, overactive, and underactive.

I offer a Monday Virtual class from 7am to 7:45am. It is donation-based. To sign up, please click the link for the one-time registration

I have an Online Platform with many classes that vary in time, style, and level. It is $9.99 per month. No obligations, as you can cancel it at anytime. But like anything, if you try it, stay steady with it for at least 40 days so you really give yourself a chance to feel the benefits or your connection to the practice.

You can find some of those classes on my YouTube channel too;)

If you ever have any questions, concerns, or feedback ~ I am a click away!

Do you before you do the rest. Don't let anyone tell you it is selfish. You are worth the time, energy, and work to feel good in body, mind, and spirit.

I see you, dear friend.

Thankful Thursday - Drop in the Comments!!!

If you are facing some of the biggest struggles of your life, finding gratitude even in the "smallest" of things can assist your nervous system.

When Danny and I were in the mountains facing one bomb after another, our lives seemed uncontrollable, and impossibly ours to be living in. It felt unfamiliar with so much anger, frustration, sadness, and it just didn't stop.

We had to acknowledge the little things to keep the faith, trust that we were going to be alright, and that there was a reason for all the chaos, even if we never got the explanation.

We were thankful for the roof over our head, the meal we prepared, each other, the ability to breathe, even if on days it felt like we couldn't exhale completely ~ we turn to each other for support to let it out.

Returning to the beach was a freaking Universal Intervention. To be able to buy our old place was unbelievable, Wahe Guru! We wanted to return to the place that was safe and peaceful. And, we knew it would come with its own set of challenges, but we did it anyway.

I am eternally thankful for a partner in life who, even on my ugliest days, sees me. That I can say today that I am able to fully exhale and let go, trusting that where we are is safe. I am incredibly grateful for a community that loves and supports me for the raw, messy, and passionate being that I am.

If you are going through some really tough times, find those things you can tangibly be grateful for: a shower to bathe you, a job that supports you, the breath that can land you in your body, or even the body that is the container that can move you. Be thankful for the trees, the ocean, the sounds of the birds, the books you love, the warm tea or coffee that awakens you to where you are.

Think it.
Write it.
Say it loud to affirm it.

Trust that this too shall pass. This is impermanence and will lead you to something better. Trust.

Today, we will drop into some yummy yin yoga to feel the gratitude in our bodies and mind. Heart, intestines, and lung organ pairs for us to connect to that which moves our blood, breath, and nourishment through our bodies.

Join us from 9am to 10am. www.yogadivita.com for more details. If you are still reading this, thank you.

This morning's class was extra. It was as special as the Spanish Moss that coats the trees - cozy, magical, and held.

Thank You, Thank You, Thank You for being there, sharing yourself, and supporting a space that allows all of us to feel safe enough to be 100% who we are.

PS. For those of you reaching out via PM or email, I see and feel you because I am you... XO You are loved, sweet friend.

Who here loves a face massage?
👋👋
I have been asked to teach "face yoga" before to help diminish the signs of aging, LOL!

Our bodies are constantly reacting to the world around us through the lens of YOUR life. So, with that said, what makes me go cross-eyed may not bother you, and vice versa.

What we can do to help the signs of aging is NOURISHMENT!
~ self-massage every morning
~ daily check-ins with how you're holding your jaw and tongue
~ laughter and smiling LOTS
~ hydrating food and beverage
~ daily moments to sit in stillness to soften

Those can all be achieved in a day, BUT you have to choose to dip into them while letting go of the urge to beat the aging process. Sweetie, you are the finest wine that, with age, just gets better. Don't deny yourself that. Embrace it, Queen!

If you join us at Yoga DiVita, I promise you will hear me say "smile, it helps" at least once during practice! You will get your circulation flowing that brightens the skin. You will be invited to pause and tune in to where andhow you are.

Today, we will practice kundalini yoga from 9am to 10am. I will see you there!

Have you ever noticed the different kinds of sighs?

Whether noticed or unnoticed, voluntary or involuntary, they all have a purpose.

They regulate breathing, reduce stress, and help us reset.

When you sigh, or have been asked, "Why such a sigh?", what if we take a moment to notice...

Where am I?
How am I?
What do I need?
Who may I contact for support?

Yoga DiVita has been one of the most supportive environments over the years. If you need community, our doors are open.

Our schedule is designed to allow us space to tune in and connect with our body and heart, quieting the mind to become the best listener in your life.

On Tuesdays and Thursdays, we get quiet and still in Yin Yoga.
On Wednesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays, we cleanse, clear, and ground in Kundalini Yoga.

All group classes are from 9am to 10am at the Legion Martial Arts building in Little River. Arrive 15 minutes early for your first class to settle in. I do lock the doors when class begins for safety and serenity.

For more information, go to www.yogadivita.com or PM me.
We would love for you to join us.

Sighing together is better!
