SPOTLIGHT!!
Dana has been a DON since 2014. I love being able to provide quality lifestyles and fun activities to our residents! I love working with the resident and families, getting to know them on a personal level and knowing what impacts their lives. Adding happiness and love to their lives brings me great joy! The onset of Covid has changed the way that we do things, regulations have changed, but the people that we care for are greatly the same. I started working for this company on September 7, 2022.
My favorite part of working for this company is being able to participate with a group of hard-working and dedicated managers that bring together the ideas, goals and knowledge of several different management styles in effort to provide quality living for the elderly. It is exciting to watch the different mindsets work together to formulate as one! In my career, I am most proud of the team of dedicated and compassionate employees that I work with! Many of us have worked together in several different long term care facilities as a team and I truly believe that we have added joy to the lives of our residents!
I would describe the company culture as being very diverse! We are blending the policies and procedures of multiple companies and are building a company from ground up! I enjoy the comradery of a great team! We are bringing more people to our facility every single day!
About me!!
People would be surprised to know that I have 12 grandchildren! Also, I used to dance in country/western dance competitions! 😊
The advice that I would give to my younger self is to STOP AND SMELL THE ROSES! Work is great and it describes who I am, but all work and no play tend to make you a pretty boring person. Laughter is the key to happiness!
My mother was diagnosed with terminal brain cancer on October 30, 2007. As her disease progressed and her cognition declined, I promised her that I would go to nursing school. As soon as I began clinicals, I knew that God planned for my career to be in long-term care. I can honestly see my mother in the eyes of so many of my residents. I can feel the heartache of families as they watch the lives of their loved ones slip away with age and dementia. I am able to pay homage to my mother and my Heavenly Father through my career.
My goals for the next few months/years are to participate with the building of a facility that has pride is providing the very best care to our residents! I look forward to having fun activities and happy residents that are truly content with their home environment!
I wish people knew just how very dedicated I am to improving quality for our residents! I am honestly a 24/7 kind of employee! I want to know my staff and residents personally! I want to know what makes their day better and how I can help!
Three wishes… I look forward to the possibility of updating our facility. I wish I could help my daughter to improve her life. Things have been very difficult since spinal surgery last June. I wish I had a brand new, 2023 Black on Black … luxury sedan! Not sure what kind, but I’ll know it when I see it!
Watch and/or read… I usually watch whatever my grandkids are listening to on TV. If I watch TV, I usually pick a movie on Netflix. I watched “The Shack” on Prime TV last Sunday night. I usually don’t get home until after 9 PM each night, so I don’t watch or read much during the week.
For my bucket list, I would love to travel to Ireland! Pictures of Ireland are always so lush, green and beautiful! I have been fortunate enough to travel to Japan, Paris, Belgium and Puerto Rico. Ireland is the next place I’d love to see!
If I could have any superpower, I would love to have the ability to read people’s minds! That would be very interesting, enlightening and, quite honestly, it would be very educational!
Thank you Dana for all you do!!
