🦵❤️ How Is Peripheral Artery Disease (PAD) Treated?

At Arkansas Vascular & Vein Specialists, we treat PAD based on how severe it is and what’s best for you.

1️⃣ Medical Management

Many patients start with medical care, which may include:
• Walking and exercise
• Medications to improve blood flow
• Controlling blood pressure, cholesterol, and diabetes
• Quitting smoking

2️⃣ Surgery (When Needed)

If symptoms don’t improve, surgery may help restore blood flow:

🔹 Endovascular treatment
• Minimally invasive
• Uses tiny balloons or stents to open arteries
• Faster recovery

🔹 Open surgery
• Used for severe blockages
• Creates a new path for blood flow
• Long-lasting results

💙 Our goal is simple: less pain, better blood flow, and healthier legs.
If you have leg pain, slow-healing sores, or trouble walking, don’t wait.

🏅 Congratulations to Dr. Simmons! 🏅

We are proud to celebrate Dr. Simmons, who was awarded the UAMS Red Sash Award — an honor voted on by UAMS medical students to recognize faculty who go above and beyond in teaching, mentoring, and supporting future physicians.

This award reflects what we see every day: a commitment to education, leadership, and investing in the next generation of doctors. Congratulations on this well-deserved recognition!

👏 Thank you for making a lasting impact on our students and our profession.

🎥 What’s happening in this video?
This is a special type of aortic aneurysm repair called TAMBE (Thoracoabdominal Branch Endograft).

An aortic aneurysm is a weak, bulging spot in the biggest blood vessel in the body. If it gets too big, it can burst—and that can be life-threatening.

TAMBE lets us fix the aneurysm from the inside using a custom-made device, without opening the chest or belly. This means:
✨ Smaller cuts
✨ Less pain
✨ Faster healing
We are grateful to help keep our Arkansas patients safe with advanced care like this. And we are one of a few vascular surgeons to offer TAMBE here in Arkansas.
If you’ve been told you have an aneurysm, or have questions, we’re here to help. ❤️
