💻 Stay Safe Online!

A quick reminder to stay safe online. As more communication happens digitally, here are a few tips to help you recognize common scams:

✅ Check the sender’s email address. Official messages from IAYT will always come from an .org address.
✅ Pause before responding to urgent or unexpected requests. If a message asks for personal information, passwords, or payment details, take a moment to verify the sender and ensure that the request is legitimate before responding or clicking any links.
✅ When in doubt, reach out. If something doesn’t feel quite right, you can always forward the message to info@iayt.org and we’ll be happy to take a look.
✅ Ask people to use the CONTACT ME button in the C-IAYT directory (it's above your photo) to reach out without exposing your email—messages are sent through a secure form, helping you stay accessible while maintaining your privacy.

Behind the scenes, IAYT uses industry-standard email security tools to verify and protect our messages—helping prevent scams and impersonation.

Thanks for staying mindful and for being part of IAYT!

😊 Celebrate International Day of Happiness!

Created by the United Nations in 2012, this day reminds us that well-being, equity, and connection are essential to a thriving world. Yoga therapy supports this vision by helping ease stress and discomfort across the physical, emotional, and spiritual dimensions—supporting greater balance and well-being.

Read “Triggering” joy in the yogatherapy.health blog to explore how yoga therapy can help us intentionally reconnect with joy, even during challenging times. Rather than waiting for joy to appear, we can cultivate it through simple, mindful practices that support the nervous system and shift our inner state: https://buff.ly/0yDZ8IQ

Many yoga therapists and wellness professionals assume grants are only available to nonprofits, but that’s not always the case.

In this 18-minute overview, Greg Nardi, C-IAYT, shares practical insights into how grant funding can support yoga therapy and community wellness initiatives. The session explores funding pathways for individuals, small businesses, and community programs—including micro-grants, teacher grants, community funds, and fiscal sponsorship.

You’ll also learn what makes a strong application—from telling a clear story and outcomes to preparing a simple, realistic budget.

If you’ve ever wondered whether grant funding could help launch or expand your work, this short session is a great place to start.

📖 IJYT Explores Yoga in One of the World's Largest Refugee Camps

A study from the 2025 volume of IAYT's International Journal of Yoga Therapy (IJYT) suggests the potential of therapeutic yoga to provide not only coping skills and hope, but also employment opportunities. Halady et al.'s work, conducted in one of the largest refugee camps in the world, also uniquely highlights the practice's perceived acceptability for women.

IAYT members have full access to all IJYT articles, including "A Qualitative Study of the Psychosocial Benefits, Feasibility, and Acceptability of Yoga for Yoga Teachers and Students in Kakuma Refugee Camp, Kenya." (Sign in to your profile on iayt.org, then navigate to the IJYT page.)

📖 The Caring Art of Seeing

In this Yoga Therapy Today feature, photographer Roberth Sturman shows us the way to witness — "not as subjects, but as human beings whose dignity is worth honoring. The act of slowing down, listening with the eyes and holding space for another person's truth is for me the essence of being an artist of our world."

Meet Robert Sturman at SYTAR 2026 in Costa Mesa, CA, and prepare to be inspired by his powerful reflections on compassion and the sacredness of our shared humanity.
