"We began trying to conceive in 2019. After having a fibroid tumor and some endometriosis removed, we received a diagnosis of unexplained infertility, which was both confusing and frustrating. We attempted three rounds of intrauterine insemination (IUI) without success before deciding to move on to in vitro fertilization (IVF). During our first round of IVF, we ended up with two embryos. Unfortunately, the one with the better grade did not implant, and we were unable to use the second one. At that point, I was feeling quite discouraged. I had read that my odds of success with IVF were around 25%. Since I rely on data to make decisions, investing more money in another round of IVF didn’t seem wise for my emotional or financial well-being. Six months later, I decided to give it one last shot. AFG was there to assist us and did everything possible to make this round successful. I mentally prepared myself for the possibility of the same outcome but leaned heavily on support from RESOLVE, a national infertility group, which helped me reframe my thoughts and focus on what I could control. In our second round of IVF, we ended up with just one embryo. Although it was rated "excellent," we tried not to get our hopes up. Fast forward to now—she is a healthy, vibrant two-year-old girl, and we feel incredibly fortunate. I will always be grateful to AFG for their care. They are busy helping many people, and they consistently showed up for us. I'm glad they did. If I could share one piece of advice with someone embarking on the same journey I did, it would be this: IVF doesn’t work every time for everyone, but sometimes it does. Try to stay present and focus on the good in what you have. Remember, regardless of the outcome, your worth is not tied to your ability to conceive. You are enough—today and every day—whether or not you become a parent, and AFG will be there to help you navigate infertility." - Keri S.

"My husband and I suffered from both male and female factor infertility. We learned a year prior that he had ZERO s***m, I had recurrent ovarian cysts, and a thin uterine lining. We had no idea that becoming parents might not be in the cards, and it was devastating. My husband was on medications and injections for months, and then was able to get just enough swimmers to freeze. We gave IVF a try. Honestly, through the whole process, the odds were not looking great. After my retrieval, I had 7 eggs retrieved, only 4 of good quality (I’m only in my early 30s), and my lining but just barely thick enough for implantation. The embryologist performed ICSI on the 4 eggs, and only 2 fertilized. Those 2 made it to day 2, and because we only had 2, we did not risk waiting to day 5 for genetic testing, we just had them both transferred on day 3. It was our first and only attempt. I had a positive test 6 days later, and was nervous the whole first trimester, expecting something surely to go wrong, but I had a smooth pregnancy and delivery. Our little guy is perfect and almost 4 months old now. 💞 Thank you to Dr. Moutos and everyone at AFG!" - Amy .
