Union Rescue Mission- Little Rock

Union Rescue Mission- Little Rock Sharing faith, hope, and love since 1946. Through our faith based live in recovery programs lives are being changed.

Our Mission: We provide a place of refuge for the abused, recovery for the addicted and rescue for the hopeless through the transforming love of Jesus Christ. The Nehemiah House reaches out to the those caught in addiction, struggling in homelessness, and the disadvantaged men of Arkansas with the compassion of Jesus Christ. Those who are struggling with chemical dependency and other addictions find hope and support to break the shackles of their addictions and begin to rebuild their lives. Dorcas House provides help to women and children experiencing domestic violence and those caught addiction. We provide emergency services like food, shelter, clothing and crisis intervention to more than 400 women and children annually. We offer a faith based Domestic Violence Recovery Program and a Drug and Alcohol Recovery Program led by licensed Christian therapists. We also offer longer-term living arrangements available through our Work Program once finished with Recovery programs. The curriculum that we offer goes beyond educating women about the cycle of violence and addiction but rather addresses root problems through intensive group therapy. There is counseling and therapy provided for the children as well as family group therapy. Our program encourages women to address deep-seeded pain and suffering like childhood sexual abuse, co-dependence and depression. By addressing the deeper issues and providing education on how to overcome those issues we see lives changed and unhealthy cycles broken. We work cooperatively with law enforcement and court officials to promote the protection and safety of battered women and children. For more information on our Recovery Programs through the Nehemiah House or the Dorcas House call (501) 370-0808 or go to our website at www.urmissionlr.org. If you or someone you know someone needs help, then please call the national domestic violence hotline at 1-800-799-SAFE (7233); and she will be directed to the appropriate shelter or safe house.

We want to say a huge thank you to John Dyess and his daughter Alice Dyess of Altronics Research in Yellville for their incredible generosity. 💙

Back in November, they donated washers and dryers to the men at the Nehemiah House. Recently, when one of our clients commented on that post and shared that the Dorcas House could really use washers and dryers as well, John and Alice immediately jumped at the opportunity to help again.

This kind of responsiveness, compassion, and willingness to listen means more than we can say. Clean clothes may seem simple, but dignity, care, and support are woven into every load of laundry. Thank you for seeing a need and stepping in so quickly to meet it. We are deeply grateful.

This past weekend, the men at Nehemiah House had the opportunity to attend Winter Jam, and it was such a meaningful experience. 🎶✨

Getting out together, worshiping alongside thousands of others, and being reminded that they are not alone in their walk was incredibly encouraging. Moments like these give space for joy, reflection, and hope, and we’re so grateful for experiences that pour life into the men as they continue their recovery journeys.

Thank you to everyone who helps make opportunities like this possible.

Huge thank you to our Board Member, Matthew Clifton, for donating a shiny new industrial gas range and stove for the Dorcas House kitchen!

This generous gift is going to make a real difference in our day to day life here. From cooking family style meals to supporting special events and gatherings, this upgrade helps us better care for the women and children who call Dorcas House home.

We are incredibly grateful for board members who do not just give their time and leadership, but who also step in so tangibly when needs arise. Thank you, Matthew, for investing in our mission and in the heart of our home. 💛

As we step into a new year, our hearts are full of gratitude.

To every volunteer who showed up with willing hands, to every supporter who gave generously, and to every follower who encouraged us, shared our posts, prayed for our mission, or simply cared, thank you. Union Rescue Mission exists because of a community that believes people are worth loving, serving, and walking alongside.

Because of you, doors stayed open, meals were served, beds were filled, and hope was offered day after day. You helped create spaces of safety, dignity, healing, and belonging for men, women, and children throughout this past year.

As we enter 2026, we want to speak a blessing over this community.

Lord, we thank You for every person who has partnered with Union Rescue Mission. Bless our volunteers with renewed strength and joy. Bless our supporters with abundance and peace. Bless every family, church, and individual who has carried this mission in their hearts. As we step into a new year, guide our work, deepen our compassion, and help us continue to serve with humility, faith, and love. May 2026 be marked by hope, provision, restoration, and lives transformed by Your grace. Amen.

Thank you for being part of this mission. We look forward to continuing this work together in the year ahead.

Happy New Year from all of us at Union Rescue Mission. ❤️

Merry Christmas from Union Rescue Mission 🎄

As we celebrate Christmas today, we find ourselves reflecting not just on the last twelve days, but on an entire year filled with compassion, resilience, and hope.

Over the past twelve days, we’ve shared glimpses of what happens inside Union Rescue Mission. Quiet moments of rest. Warm meals around shared tables. Children laughing and creating. Men choosing recovery. Women rebuilding their lives. Volunteers serving with joy. Faith lived out in practical, everyday ways.

This Christmas season, because of an incredible community, every man, woman, and child in our programs received gifts. Through our toy closet, more than 100 children in the community were able to experience the joy of Christmas morning. Our homes were filled with the sounds of laughter, conversation, and celebration through shared meals, card making, ornament crafting, bonfires, gift exchanges, parties, and so many meaningful moments in between.

And beyond the Christmas season, this year has been marked by steady, faithful support. Support that kept the lights on, the doors open, the meals coming, and the programs moving forward. Support that reminded people who have experienced homelessness, addiction, trauma, and loss that they are not forgotten.

At the heart of all of this is the reason we celebrate today. Christmas is the reminder that hope came near. That love showed up. That light entered the darkness and was not overcome. We are grateful to be a place where that love is expressed through safe shelter, nourishing food, recovery, community, and faith.

To every donor, volunteer, church, partner, and friend who walked alongside us this year, thank you. Your generosity made space for healing, dignity, and new beginnings. You are part of every story of transformation that unfolded within these walls.

From all of us at Union Rescue Mission, we wish you a Merry Christmas and a hopeful New Year. May you carry the same love, generosity, and compassion into the year ahead.

Day 11 of the 12 Days of Christmas 🎄

Today is about gratitude.

Because of our incredible community, every single man, woman, and child in our programs received gifts this Christmas. What once felt like a big, hopeful goal became a reality through generosity, time, and love.

Through our toy closet, we were also able to help over 100 children in the community experience the joy of opening gifts this year. And thanks to volunteers, churches, and community partners, our homes were filled with delicious Christmas meals and meaningful moments all season long.

From card making and ornament crafting to bonfires, gift exchanges, parties, and so much more, this Christmas was rich in connection, laughter, and care.

Thank you to everyone who gave, served, cooked, crafted, prayed, and showed up. You helped make this season one of joy, dignity, and hope for so many. ❤️

🎄✨ Union Rescue Mission Staff Christmas Party ✨🎄

What an incredible time we had celebrating together today! Our staff Christmas party was filled with wonderful fellowship, delicious food, lots of laughter, and fun games—such a beautiful reminder of the joy found in community and friendship.

Most importantly, we celebrate the true reason for this season: the birth of Jesus Christ. His love, humility, and sacrifice are the foundation of everything we do, and His light continues to guide our mission each and every day.

We are deeply grateful for the amazing team God has called together for such a time as this. Each person brings unique gifts, hearts of compassion, and a shared passion to serve our clients with excellence and love. It is truly humbling to know that God has entrusted us with work that is life-changing every single day.

Thankful doesn’t feel like a strong enough word for the privilege we have to be used for His Kingdom and to serve alongside such faithful, dedicated people. What a great time, and what a blessing it is to celebrate Christ and serve together! ❤️🙏

Merry Christmas! Thank you, Jesus! 🙌
