Happy National Public Health Week!
There is still no known safe level of exposure to secondhand smoke. Keep that in mind as you consider the health of exposed workers in many hospitality areas, such as cigar bar/lounges and casinos.

Last week, our Executive Vice President of U.S. Programs, Brian King, spoke at the Society for Research on Ni****ne and To***co’s annual meeting on a panel about the public health implications of state e-cigarette registry laws.

Research discussed in the session showed that there is increased state interest in these laws, which are heavily promoted by the to***co industry. The panel also showed that existing state registry laws are hard to enforce and are not reducing sales of to***co products that are popular with young people.

Today, November 20th is the Great American Smoke Out (GASO) Day. Earlier today a group of advocates gathered at Little Rock City Hall for a 10:00 a.m. press conference to commemorate the annual day of observance.

Purpose: The Great American Smokeout Day is a national event that encourages people who smoke to commit to quitting—even if just for one day. Held annually on the third Thursday of November, it raises awareness about the health risks of smoking and promotes resources and support for long-term cessation. It's a powerful moment to take the first step toward a smoke-free future.
