Patient came in today, wearing an Oura ring which monitors sleep and stress. She arrived at 10 o’clock and left at 11:30. Acupuncture is great for stress.!

Licensed Acupuncturists, who have four years of training (~4000 hours, including 800 clinical hours prior to licensing), are not covered as acupuncture providers for treatments under Medicare.

Meanwhile, the providers who are covered have this much training:
MD’s - 300 hours
Chiropractors - 100 hours
Physical Therapists - 24 hours (one weekend), which doesn’t include safety training.
These minimal training times are not even required by statute (except for chiropractors), it’s just the length of the courses.

Choose wisely.

Just finished up another semester in my DACM (Doctor of Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine). I've taken advantage of the Covid down time and focused on the program. Lots of Zoom classes, research, papers, Zoom group projects, and posting on the school's forums. I've got two classes left and should be finished around August. Then you can officially call me "Doc Martin"!
