Last night, we created space for reflection, honesty, and healing.
As part of our Sexual Assault Awareness Month event with Central Arkansas Pride, we invited participants to respond to two questions:
• What helped you to heal?
• What makes you feel safe?
The answers filled these boards.
For healing, people shared things like "patience and understanding from my loved ones", "spirituality", "hope", "my cats", "community & learning to be vulnerable", "a safe person with common experience", and "having shared the trauma & not keeping it alone".
For safety, people responded with "you're never alone", "being in a nonjudgmental space", "shared experiences", "music & singing", "support from a safe person", "you have people who care about you here", "my time alone to recharge & rest", and "being with like-minded people".
Each note holds a real experience. Each one points to what people need to feel supported.
Healing looks different for everyone. Safety looks different for everyone. But the message is clear—people need care, respect, and spaces where they are heard.
Thank you to everyone who showed up and shared. Thank you to Arkansas Coalition Against Sexual Assault & Women & Children First: The Center Against Family Violence for participating and supporting.
If you need support or resources, Arkansas RAPPS is here to help.
