ArOA was well represented at SECO International this past weekend with President Dr. Julie Dolven and President-Elect, Dr. Katie Brown. Arkansas also had the privilege of leading the Southern Caucus this past year and at the conclusion of the meeting, Dr. Dolven passed the gavel to Dr. Minh Duong, President of the Mississippi Optometric Association.

Congratulations to Dr. Jade Coats on being named the 2026 Southern Council of Optometrists (SECO) Young Optometrist of the South — one of the region’s highest honors recognizing leadership, service, and dedication to the profession.

Dr. Coats continues to distinguish herself through her clinical excellence, national leadership, advocacy, and service to organized optometry. This recognition reflects not only her impact in Arkansas, but her growing influence across the Southeast and the profession at large. We are incredibly proud to see her honored on this stage this weekend.
