đź’Thoughts from an ARBEST trained Child-Parent Psychotherapy (CPP) Therapistđź’

"Child-Parent Psychotherapy (CPP) has been an invaluable framework in my work with young children and their families. Through this model, I’ve witnessed incredible growth—not only in the children I serve, but in their caregivers as well. CPP has helped children navigate healthy separation from their parents, while supporting both regulation and co-regulation skills that previously felt out of reach. These outcomes would not have been possible without the guidance of CPP and the exceptional training I received from Dr. Sufna and Dr. Karin.

Their support, along with that of a compassionate and committed cohort, made all the difference. Although the intensive training process was both rigorous and, at times, exhausting, I held on—and I’m so grateful I did. Today, I see the benefits of CPP come to life as parents and children grow together in their ability to connect, trust, and support one another. It’s truly powerful to witness families build these skills through this evidence-based, relationship-focused model."

đź’Thoughts from a Child-Parent Psychotherapy (CPP) Therapist đź’

"CPP has helped me better inform families about trauma. One of the best takeaways from CPP is learning that memories begin at birth and that babies can remember more than given credit for. Co-regulation has been a helpful tool to assist families within CPP as well as those families not utilizing CPP. CPP also validates that one brings the good, the bad, and the ugly into parenting. The knowledge I gained through CPP has overflowed into my work outside of the CPP model."

Here are some thoughts shared recently with us from an ARBEST trained CPP therapist about their experience training in CPP.
"This training not only deepened my clinical skills but also challenged me to reflect on my own perspectives and grow in ways I didn’t anticipate. I’ve always seen the humanity in children, but CPP helped me see it more clearly in their caregivers too, even through some extremely difficult circumstances. It challenged me to soften where I had hardened and to lead with curiosity and compassion. More than any other training or formal counseling class, CPP encouraged me to simply be a human in the room - present, steady, and real. Even if you don’t primarily work with young children, the core of this model will stay with you and will leave a lasting imprint on your clinical approach. It was one of the best investments I've made in my professional development. I am a better clinician, mother, and human because of CPP."
