Matthew will be greatly missed. He truly supported all those he came in contact with. We will miss you and your compassion and dedication.

It is with a deeply heavy heart that we share the passing of our friend, brother, and Oasis of NWA board member, Matthew Stephens, who has gone home to be with the Lord.

Matt served this community with a rare kind of compassion — the kind that does not just speak, but moves; the kind that does not just hope, but acts. He poured himself into the hurting, the rebuilding, and the recovering. He believed fiercely in second chances, in redemption, and in the value of every single person who walked through our doors or crossed his path. Because of Matt, lives were restored. Families were reunited. People who thought they had no chance left found hope again.

His leadership at Oasis was not symbolic — it was lived. He stood beside us in the hard moments, dreamed with us in the big ones, and worked tirelessly to strengthen the mission we carry. We shared plans for growth, outreach, and expanded recovery resources — dreams Matt was ready to fight for. Though his earthly journey has ended, those plans do not die with him. We will honor him by continuing the work he believed in so deeply. We will move forward carrying his vision, his grit, and his heart.

His absence leaves an ache that words cannot soften. Yet his legacy remains — alive in every person he encouraged, every life he helped steady, every voice he lifted when it trembled. The impact of his kindness will echo through this community for years to come.

If Matt touched your life — through Oasis, through recovery, through friendship — and you feel called to step into the work he cared so much about, please reach out. There is room here for your heart, your hands, your story. His mission continues through all who are willing to stand where he stood and love how he loved.

Rest in peace, Matt. Thank you for everything you gave, everything you built, everything you believed in. We will carry your light forward — and we will not let it fade.

Today we pause to reflect on gratitude — for recovery, for second chances, for the people who never gave up on us.
No matter where you are on your journey, take a moment to breathe it in and be thankful for how far you’ve come.

Gratitude turns what we have into enough.
From all of us at Natural State Recovery Centers — Happy Thanksgiving!

Treatment That Works

If unhealthy behaviors have become addictions, and life has become unmanageable, it’s natural to feel hopelessness and despair. It’s also time to make a fundamental decision: “Am I willing to do whatever it takes to enjoy a peaceful, healthy, happy, and productive life?” If you, or a loved one are willing to do what it takes to get better, our team is ready to help. Natural State Recovery Centers (NSRC), based in Little Rock, Arkansas, offers an effective three-pronged program combining outpatient substance abuse treatment with enhanced residential housing combining outpatient substance abuse treatment, enhanced residential living for men, and life skills training. An important part of our rehabilitation program is that we provide these and other necessary tools for our clients’ lasting recovery.

The Natural State Recovery Centers team are more than simply professionals. In fact, most of our team members can personally relate to our patients by virtue of having gone through the ongoing process of recovery, themselves. We know what works and we know what doesn’t work. This experience has helped shape our program into one that begins simply with hope, then evolves into a transformative, life-changing experience for the client.
