MEET THE TRAINER pt. 2
If you haven’t met her yet, HERE SHE IS! Jennifer is not only a trainer at the gym, she is also the gym manager and has been here for 16 years!

Jennifer has always had a passion for performance improvement, health, and wellness. Beginning her career at Health & Fitness in the Heights 16 years ago, she then pursued a bachelors of science at the University of Central Arkansas, graduating in 2010. She has been offering personal training for 8 years and health coaching for 10. Jennifer teaches our small group training classes Tuesday and Thursday mornings. Her favorite types of workouts are total body focused because she believes it is important to move all muscles to build a better physique. In her classes you can guarantee to leave sweating! You will experience a workout geared towards functional fitness and exercises that push your body to perform at its greatest effort. Outside of the gym, her passion for fitness does not die! Her hobbies include hiking, camping, and traveling. She enjoys anything outdoors; especially with her husband and 4 children. Jennifer choses to move her body every day to continue to grow and adapt to each stage of life.

The focus this month has been BALANCE

Balance- an even distribution of weight enabling someone or something to remain upright and steady.

Balance is an activity that we don't typically think about. Once we develop our balance as a young child, we tend to forego the necessity to continue its development. Balance becomes a subconscious part of our daily routine until the unexpected happens. An injury, a fall, a major life disruption can throw your balance off, not to mention, age. As we age, we can become less stable. Less secure in our daily walk. Improving your balance can help to keep the body aligned, to help prevent injury and improve physical activity.

MEET OUR TRAINERS!!
Michal is our newest addition to Health & Fitness in the Heights. Let’s get to know her!

Michal Petrarca is a University of Central Arkansas graduate with a lifelong passion for fitness and athletics. She decided to pursue a career in fitness after graduating college and becoming a new mother. In an effort to get back in shape, she joined the local roller derby league. She quickly realized the importance of off-track fitness training in conjunction with the sport and fell
in love with working out. Michal became a certified personal trainer in 2022 and joined the Health & Fitness in the Heights team in October. She is our afternoon small group class trainer and offers strength training and core/cardio classes. Her favorite routines involve working against your own
bodyweight and adding weight to simple exercises to teach proper form and test endurance. Michal loves her small group training sessions because it allows her to focus on the needs of each individual, modifying exercises and providing feedback throughout the session while still enjoying the comradery of working out with others. She loves to hear feedback from her students and ensure that each person is getting the most out of each workout no matter their limitations.
