In recognition of , the UAMS Office of Volunteer Engagement and the UAMS Winthrop P. Rockefeller Cancer Institute Volunteer Services, Auxiliary partnered to host the UAMS Volunteer Appreciation Luncheon—bringing together volunteers from across UAMS - University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences to celebrate service, collaboration, and community.
Volunteers from UAMS Medical Center and UAMS Winthrop P. Rockefeller Cancer Institute gathered as one community to connect, share stories, and enjoy lunch together (special thanks to UAMS Catering Services!). The event reflected the collaborative spirit our volunteers model every day in service to patients, families, colleagues—and one another.
The luncheon also recognized this year’s volunteer appreciation award recipients, honoring milestone service hours and excellence in service:
Office of Volunteer Engagement Awardees
⭐ Connie Ratcliff Volunteer of the Year – DeShay Ford
⭐ Volunteer Supervisors of the Year – Suzy Sun & Suzanne Homsley
⭐ Patricia Lavender Distinguished Service Award – Lori Schnieders
Winthrop P. Rockefeller Cancer Institute Awardees

We were honored to welcome UAMS Chancellor C. Lowry Barnes and UAMS Special Services Liaison & CARES Co‑Director Leslie Oden, who highlighted the vital role volunteerism plays in advancing a culture of “unreasonable hospitality” through the UAMS CARES values: Compassion, Attention, Respect, Empathy, and Service.
To our volunteers: thank you for your dedication, teamwork, and heart.
