This morning I got a text from my husband-“ check your reviews.”
I knew instantly something wasn’t right.
I’ve been closed since Saturday because of the weather.
Overnight 10 one star reviews on Google pooped up all within a very short time period.
All from names that aren’t in my system.
All fake. A bot, maybe, but one stood out because it said,” check my profile to get reviews deleted,” and then I knew what it was- blackmail schemes.
This is why when a small business asks you to leave a review, they really mean it.
Your words matter.
Your experiences make a difference.
I get it, honestly I do- we get busy, we think it won’t really matter, even if we loved every second of the service or every bite of the food, or even if the ambience was perfect and the moment was extraordinary, we just don’t take the time to write a review or share the highlights…
Unless we, too, have a small business and know all too well what it’s like.
So please next time you go someplace or do something or dine at a cafe or get excellent service, take a moment and write that review.
You’ll lift up a business owner that just spent time sending notifications and reporting fake reviews.
You’ll help others know what’s good in the community.
You’ll help make a difference- a really big difference.
It matters, it really does.
