Welcome to the practice of Peter T. Hetzler, M.D., FACS. Dr. Hetzler is certified by The American Board of Plastic Surgery and has over twenty years of experience practicing aesthetic plastic and reconstructive surgery. He has made it his mission to provide each patient the most personal attention possible throughout the plastic surgery process.
Dr. Hetzler is widely known for his expertise in surgery of the breast, especially breast reconstruction following surgery for breast cancer. He is a principal investigator in an ongoing clinical study for the shaped, silicone-filled breast implants for use in reconstruction and revision. ” Performing breast reconstruction has been my passion since I began my training in 1981. I feel truly honored that these inspiring women have chosen me to be part of their reconstructive process. Breast cancer has also touched me personally. Three close family members have been diagnosed with this disease.”
Peter T. Hetzler, M.D., FACS has distinguished himself as a top surgeon throughout his many years in practice. Certified by the American Board of Surgery in 1989, the American Board of Plastic Surgery in 1991, and made Fellow of the American College of Surgeons in 1992, Dr. Hetzler has published a number of articles on plastic surgery and given many presentations to conferences of peers.
Dr. Hetzler received his Bachelor of Science with distinction and honors from Stanford University in 1976, his MD from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, Michigan in 1981. He then completed his formal training in General Surgery (1981-1986) and Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery (1986-1988) at the M.S. Hershey Medical Center, Pennsylvania State University. Dr. Hetzler continued his comprehensive training in Plastic Surgery by completing an Aesthetic Plastic Surgery Fellowship at the Manhattan Eye, Ear, and Throat Hospital in 1989. He retains hospital privileges at Riverview Medical Center in Red Bank, NJ, Monmouth Medical Center in Long Branch, NJ, the Shrewsbury Surgery Center in Shrewsbury, NJ.
