Fireweed, also known as Willowherb, is native to all of the northern temperate and arctic regions of the earth. Likewise the people of these areas have been in a relationship with this plant for its food, medicine and fibers. Let us reunite with Fireweed and familiarize ourselves with it beginning with this lovely tea.
We can drink it solely for its flavor. We can drink it for its tranquilizing effects. We can also drink it for its rich phytochemistry contributing to its antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial and anticancer activities.
The months of July through September you will see washes of pink in patches of unmanaged fields and roadsides as you travel. This is our native Fireweed. Join us on the plant path to learn more.
