Grass Roots Tea, for a spring reset. This rich, smooth blend offers a naturally sweet flavor with a comforting depth. Traditionally appreciated as a seasonal tonic, it’s a beautiful choice when you want a cup that feels both nourishing and rooted in the earth. Crafted from all lightly roasted ingredients of black barley, wild-harvested dandelion root, burdock root, and Galium seed.

Our forage walk today brought us to a Balsam Poplar tree that fell over during the winter. I’ve heard many a Mainer speak of this tree as ‘trash wood’ and I get it; you’ll be disappointed if you try heating your house with it. It just so happens that this tree has far more worth than meets the eye. The buds are an important winter food for ruffed grouse. The dried inner bark can be used as tinder for making fire. The buds are medicine and can be used as a gentle expectorant helping us with these spring time coughs. More commonly the buds are used topically. Formulated into salves they can treat minor wounds and inflammation.

Take 2: You are invited to try some tasty teas! 🍵 I will be at The County Co-op and Farm Store pouring out the shots of my Foraged and Farmed Loose Leaf Teas this coming Saturday morning. 😋
If you are not sure about tea but are open to try new drinks you might want to take advantage of this tasting time. I have blends of herbal tisanes locally foraged and farmed and we have traditional high altitude teas from small farms blended with locally foraged and farmed ingredients.
Our complex bodies need diverse phytonutrients to maintain health and vitality. phytonutrients are plant-derived compounds crucial for long-term health, disease prevention, and cellular protection🧬. Many of us often miss out on these gifts from the earth with our high starch & protein diets. We may supplement with vitamins and minerals 💊 and that keeps us alive, but a diverse diet with fresh seasonal fruits and vegetables, sprouted grains and steeped herbs 🌱 from wild foraged and farmed sources (using spray free & regenerative agriculture practices) can give you many of the added benefits of all the highly advertised trendy 'superfoods' and 'adaptogen' drinks on the market today. We are doing our best to keep it local, inexpensive and good for you and the planet. That's why we hope you'll try our teas. To your health! 💚 -Jen
