BTID EST. 1992

The Brief Therapy Institute of Denver was the brain-child of Tracy Todd, now President of the American Association of Marriage and Family Therapists. Established in 1992, the practice was committed to providing efficient and effective therapy services to individuals, families and couples in the Metro Denver Area. The early 90s was a time where managed care dictated how many sessions clients could have under their benefits. Clinicians at the Brief Therapy Institute were trained to provide therapy services in a way where you had to make every session count. Success in therapy relied on clients completing homework between sessions, having clients access resources outside the therapy office and being direct and focused on how they wanted to use their time with their counselor.

Over the years, even though the days of managed care are long gone, our therapists still practice with a similar philosophy where every session counts. We are actively identifying barriers to goals, providing ideas and solutions for clients to consider and implement in their lives. We are not the “bobble-head” therapists portrayed in the media. We are working hard each hour to make sure you leave with something to try, look up or do between sessions.

The success of this practice is really in the diversity of our clinicians’ areas of expertise and the convenience of having 10 offices throughout the Denver Metro Area. We have over 200 years of experience amongst us. We are committed to helping people become unstuck and moving them towards their goals. When therapy is focused and behavioral solutions begin to get implemented, people start feeling hopeful. Once this momentum starts, it’s amazing how people state how much better they feel in less time than they thought it would take. Create a vision, remove the barriers and take action towards your goals. Do what works, do something different if it’s not. Simple ideas, simple solutions.

26 years and we are still going strong .. .
