Happy to share that will be selling her small batch, handmade and local cold press soaps at our holiday open house! ❄️

Fun fact: I first met Kate over 17 years ago in a knitting/mom’s group when our oldest girls were toddling about! 🧶

Kate is a kind and wonderful maker -and friend! I’m excited she will be with us on December 8th. How does 12-4 sound?! ⏰

Light & shadows ☀️🩵 Working on cleaning the studio (not as pretty of a picture!) and making up a few new glaze colors…tests will be fired this week. Fingers crossed. Hope everyone is enjoying the beautiful colors of fall.

Hello from Lemonbee. We are a few days away from my first open house in almost 5 years, and I wanted to share a little bit of why it’s been so long all in one place for you.

In 2019, I decided to leave Mudflat and start making my own glazes and work completely out of my home studio. Then covid hit. With the backdrop of a pandemic and teaching full time, a hand surgery (or two!), taking care of my family, losing my mother, and most recently coping with a challenging diagnosis for Adam (my biggest supporter and best friend)…figuring out glaze chemistry didn’t rank very high on my list, never mind not having enough flow and focus to feel successful.

I’ve kept making work, as making is a big part of who I am and what I love to do, and is often a much needed catharsis. Fortunately, this past fall I started running out of storage space for my bisque and I wouldn’t allow myself any more making until I made progress on glazing! And that I did, and so here we are.

Thanks for being patient and often reaching out. It’s kept me hopeful and moving forward, and I will say I’ve missed it so much.
Here’s to not letting another 5 years go by.

One more week until our open house…these are an example of the same butter yellow glaze on a Laguna dark brown body. No speckles coming through on these, but I love the contrast of the raw fired clay and a slow cool produces a more satin finish.

Some people don’t like the speckles. I’m sad when there are NO speckles. ☺️ This clay body from Sheffield is rich in a granular manganese dioxide to achieve this black speckled effect. The butter yellow glaze, which was the first successful glaze I made, is not as bright and quite a bit more matte than on my other brown stoneware bodies. 💛

I think I’ve figured out how to post again on this page…hello everyone! I’ll be hosting an open house on May 5th, details to come! If you follow on Instagram, then you may know my clay and glazes are different , as well as some of my processes over the last few years. I guess I can’t grow if I don’t allow for change, or keep waiting for perfection. For better or worse, I’m excited to share my work with you. 💛
