What challenges are you facing in life right now?

In these challenges, how do you naturally respond?

Do you tend to hide or get caught up in the stress of the situation? Do you avoid or run away?

“While other birds “run” from the weather, the eagle actively engages these stronger winds and, instead of seeking shelter, uses the turbulence to push itself higher. The storm allows the eagle to enter a space it can not normally reach in good weather. As a reward for this act of boldness, the eagle is given a broader view of its surroundings. And, once above the storm, the eagle is clear of the rough winds, and its flight becomes smoother...with less effort.”
Leadership author Gifford Thomas

This beautiful lesson from nature might have been what the prophet Isaiah had in mind when he penned one of the most well-known scriptures in the Bible.

"Even youths will become weak and tired, and young men will fall in exhaustion. But those who trust in the Lord will find new strength. They will soar high on wings like eagles. They will run and not grow weary. They will walk and not faint.”
Isaiah 40:30-31

Isaiah encourages us at the beginning of this passage, that not if, but when we become tired from facing life’s storms, to remind yourself of who God is. When you remind yourself of who God is and what He has done, it helps you to rise above your circumstances and to reach a place of trust in God that you could not have reached in the good weather of life.

What would it look like to rise above your circumstance this week in a posture of waiting on God and trusting in Him?

Have you found your safe space?

When you are feeling anxious, scared or overwhelmed, do you have a place to go to find solace, recharge, and reconnect with yourself?

Do you go to your bedroom? The back yard? Call up a loved one? Pray in the car? Utilize a breathing exercise?

The mental health community encourages the importance of creating an inner safe space.

Care-Clinics.com says “A safe space is a physical or mental environment where you feel comfortable, secure, and free from judgment or external pressures. It’s a sanctuary where you can be yourself, express your thoughts and emotions, and engage in self-care activities without fear or distraction."

The ✨beautiful✨ truth is, if you have placed your trust in God as your Heavenly Father, He has promised to be:
your safe place,
your refuge,
your hiding place,
and your shelter to run to.

“Those who live in the shelter of the Most High will find rest in the shadow of the Almighty. This I declare about the Lord. He alone is my refuge, my place of safety; he is my God, and I trust him. For he will rescue you from every trap and protect you from deadly disease. He will cover you with his feathers. He will shelter you with his wings. His faithful promises are your armor and protection.”
Psalm 91:1-4 NLT

Isn’t it amazing to know that as a daughter of God, no matter where you find yourself, you have not just a safe place to run, but THE SAFEST PERSON in all of the universe to run to.

You can run to Him because He fully understands who you are, what your dreams and desires are, and what you fear and worry about. You can run to Him for shelter because loves you, just as a child who is hurt runs to the safety and comfort of a parent.

So friend, where in your life right now do you need to be rescued and feel solace and safety?

Run to the Lord God for protection, comfort and safety.

Maybe you find yourself in a place where I was about 10 years ago:

🔹Overwhelmed with daily stress
🔹Unable to relax even when not at work
🔹Struggling to cope with anxiety, depression, and panic attacks
🔹Uncomfortable/unconfident in my body
🔹Feeling tense and tight in the neck, shoulders, hips, and back ALL the time
🔹Laying awake many nights unable to calm my busy thoughts

If you resonate with any of these, I get it. I've been there. And it's not a fun place to live. But you don't have to stay there.

ALL of these changed when I walked into my first yoga class.

In my first class, I was guided to tune into my body and mind. To not think but to inhale and exhale. To stretch, strengthen and care for my body instead of beating it into submission.

To be still and relax. I don't think I ever truly relaxed until being instructed to lie down in savasana. It was strange, a little awkward and absolutely wonderful! 😌

Since my first yoga class, God has powerfully used the practice of yoga to provide healing to my mind, body, and soul.

I have learned to lovingly care for my body and to use breathing exercises to calm my anxiety and panic.

I have gained strength and flexibility far beyond what I ever had previously with years of long distance running.

I have experienced the value and absolute necessity of withdrawing away from the noise of the world to breathe, move and meditate on God's Word.

And most importantly, I have learned to worship the Lord with my WHOLE self. Yoga allows me to feel the closest to my God when I am using my body, my breath and my thoughts on unison to praise Him, to ask for help and to thank Him.

The beautiful, ancient practice of yoga is SO much more than physical shapes.

It's breath, it's mental focus and stamina, it's a calm nervous system, it's encouraging community, and a place to meet the ONE who knit you together and spoke the universe into existence.

If you're feeling like how I used to feel, know that you're not alone and you don't have to stay in that place. God offers you healing and rest in Himself. I'd love to guide you towards peace and rest in Him on your yoga mat. 💖

Last Fall, I was weary and made a last minute decision and attended a yoga teacher retreat when God dropped the opportunity in my lap seemingly out of nowhere. (Of course HE knew about it all along 😉)

Until I was there, I didn't realize how badly I needed the time to step away from my day to day to be still before the Lord, to rest, to be encouraged by others and to receive.

I left feeling lighter, excited and refueled for my work as a yoga teacher, wife and mother. 💖

My amazing experience from those few short days made me realize that I wanted to create this space for my own students who wanted to go deeper and beyond a one hour yoga class.

I'm starting small with my first women's retreat and doing a 4 hour event that I am co-hosting with another Christian yoga teacher. (If you haven't met Aly from , you need to bc she is a lovely and kind soul!)

Aly and I would LOVE for you to be a part of what God is going to do at this mini-retreat! I know He will use it to refresh and encourage the women He is calling to be there.

📣Early Bird Pricing ($18 off!) for this mini-retreat ends TOMORROW NIGHT, 6/2!

Maybe this last minute decision to invest in your mind, body & soul, to refresh and receive, is exactly what you need like it was for me. 🤗

“Worry does not empty tomorrow of its sorrow; it empties today of its strength."
-Corrie Ten Boom

Worry and anxiety undoubtedly has adverse effects on your mind, body and soul.

You can feel it in the tightness of your shoulders and jaw. In the quickening of your heart beat and restlessness of your thoughts. In the weariness and exhaustion of the deepest part of yourself.

What situations in life are causing you worry right now?

Take a moment to share those things with the God who lovingly cares for you.

In Jesus' famous sermon on the Mount, He encourages us to look around us at God's creation to see God's as a remedy for our worry.

“That is why I tell you not to worry about everyday life—whether you have enough food and drink, or enough clothes to wear. Isn’t life more than food, and your body more than clothing? Look at the birds. They don’t plant or harvest or store food in barns, for your heavenly Father feeds them. And aren’t you far more valuable to him than they are? Can all your worries add a single moment to your life?”
Matthew 6:25-27 NLT

Friend, no matter what you're going through right now, God loves you and will care for you. 💝

Why? Because God loves and cares for everything He creates, and YOU are beloved above all of the amazing creatures and beauty He has made.

Go to Him honestly with your worries and needs and watch as He gently meets you where you're at and gives you peace and hope beyond belief.

This is your invitation to pause.

Taking a pause is so necessary for the health of your mind, heart and soul, but something we rarely experience or prioritize in the fullness of life.

So I invite you in these next few minutes to stop what you're doing.

Take some deep breaths.
Unclench your jaw.
Roll your neck & shoulders.
Share what's on your heart with the God who created you and who loves you.

Allow yourself to hand over any busy thoughts, worries, anxieties to the Lord and to be washed with His peace as you gently care for your body, calm you mind and rest your soul in the Lord.

Psalm 62:5-8
“For God alone, O my soul, wait in silence, for my hope is from him. He only is my rock and my salvation, my fortress; I shall not be shaken. On God rests my salvation and my glory; my mighty rock, my refuge is God. Trust in him at all times, O people; pour out your heart before him; God is a refuge for us. Selah”

Dear Sister in Christ,

If you had a really full May, you're probably like me and feeling a little weary, tired or even burnt out. You are not alone.

Not only do I and your fellow sisters understand what you're feeling, but Jesus intimately understands what it is like to experience exhaustion and weariness. He worked tirelessly during his ministry to serve others.

But even Jesus, the Son of God, didn't work non stop without reprieve and refreshment. He had rhythms of retreating away from the crowds and His disciples to be refreshed in the Lord.

So instead of shoving those feelings of stress, anxiety and irritability to the side, let them be an invitation from the Lord to be refreshed and to retreat into Him.

If you're looking for a place to intentionally retreat and rest in the Lord this summer, it would be my absolute joy to guide you in being refreshed mind, body and soul at Refresh: a summer women's mini-retreat.

I cant wait to see you there!

❤️ Sarah
